Homicide means he died at the hands of another human being. It is not the same as murder.

why wouldn’t a criminal paint his REAL weapon with an orange tip just to give him that one second’s hesitation advantage?

No, it was a homocide, all homocide means is the death was caused by the actions of another human being.

Homocide and Murder are not interchangeable.

It was clearly a homicide. One person killed another person, that is the very definition of homicide.

Many people hear “homicide” and think “murder”, but homicides can be accidential, negligent, suicide, justified, manslaughter, or murder.
