The parent Rosetta spacecraft is working well in orbit and still transmitting images of the comet while Philae hibernates in a shady spot below. This latest image here shows a clear view of where the European Space Agency thinks the lander arrived — somewhere in the rim of that shadowy crater you see up front.

I went to the link to read the whole article. At the end there was one comment.

DOES ANYONE UNDERSTAND WHAT THAT COMMENT SAYS ?

I hope that’s not an indicator of our up and coming generation.

It's just a post by a spambot in hopes someone will click the link that's with the post. There are spambots that make posts like that on forums and blogs all the time. You're not suppose to understand it. Just get your curiousity so you'll click the link.

On one hand, it would have been incredible for this project to have succeeded.

On the other hand, I did watch the landing live, and recall how arrogant the Europeans were when they boasted that their device had landed on the surface of the comet. Kind makes me feel good to see Philae fail after such a pompous display of Euro-superiority.

The lander may come back on line if the crater turns into the sunlight.
