Scuffles between shoppers have been breaking out across the country as bargain hunters fight over TVs, tablets and even Barbie dolls during the first of the holiday sales.
Many big-box stores opened early Thursday night, in an attempt to dilute the chaos of Black Friday - the day after Thanksgiving when stores usually start their reductions for the season.
But several videos have now surfaced online showing that even on a holiday dedicated to sharing, some people will turn against each other to save money.
One of the videos uploaded to YouTube Thursday night, show a handful of men and women fighting over discounted flatscreen televisions at a Walmart by laying down on top of the boxes.
Police officers are then called in to physically pull the customers off the tvs, which are on sale for $102 off. Even then, one of the men involved in the incident is seen trying to grab the television again, and has to be pushed away by a female officer. Eventually more officers step in an order everyone back and away from the TVs.
And in another incident at a Walmart store, Sheriff's deputies in Norwalk, California were summoned after receiving reports of shoppers fighting over a Barbie doll, according to a tweet by ABC Los Angeles. According to Walmart's Black Friday, some Barbie dolls were on sale for $5 each.

#FirstWorldProblems
Had to replenish my supplies of Diet Coke and went to drug store.
Drove by Wally World and parking was packed. In fact, cars parked across the street, at COSTCO, with people walking back and forth from Walmart.
Was surprised “Ultra” Beauty supplies had a line that probably 100 people deep.
Nutz.
Classic reference books, durable tools, and consumables make for the best Christmas gifts. The rest is junk that accumulates, breaks, causes anxiety, and disappoints.
Why not just claim to be protesting the grand jury verdict in Ferguson, bust out the windows and doors and take what they want.
They don’t call it black Friday for nothing.
One of these days stores will get the hint and stop this madness. In the long run they must be losing money.
I wish stores were open 24 hours everyday 365 days.
I would be there now but going to work tomorrow.
At our local Walmart there was a line close to a mile long waiting ... those at the end of the line must know that by the time the get into the store, all the good stuff will be gone. Madness.
Amazing.
I won’t wait. Ever.
When I shop I arrive before they open to get a parking spot. I don,t browse. I go to what I want, buy it and leave. I actually hate shopping.
I could see the sense of it if it was crates of .22LR ammo!
I have never wanted anything that badly.
To give up my culture, my traditions and my family for an item?
To stand for hours in line to pay less?
To behave badly, unethically, and perhaps even in a vulgar manner?
To put things above anything else.
We are lost.
Trade family love and a greatful heart for more stuff. A serious statement on a serious spiritual sickness that pervades this country. Greed or Love, it is a choice that speaks volumes about you.
What is more important, what you are greatful for, or who you are greatful to for it?
You hate shopping!!! I thought that the love of shopping was part of the genetic makeup of all those with XX Chromosomes. One learns so much here on FR. LOL!
My buddy finds out the sale price. Then he goes in when the madness dies down, and offers the manager to pay the sale price, and no more. He gets his way! Has worked for him 9 times out of 10. You think stores won’t bargain? They will!
My son-in-law just gave my wife a brick of them as a gag. I told her that I don’t have anything chambering .22 LR in my collection. Which means I now have permission to go buy one.
Imoncecwent just overc4 years without going into a ,all :o)
Shopping makes me depressed because it’s mostly junk ... Often even expensive stuff is just cr#p. there is just so much of it. Everything is from China ... Very little is well designed.
Yes, it’s depressing.
If they did the 24 hour thing, I’d shop on my way to work. Except I get up at 4 AM just to make it on time now.
It’s gotten so bad this year that fights are breaking out in the checkout pages at Amazon!
It is really an amazing cartridge. Find a good deal on a Ruger 10-22 and some extra mags, mount a 1” scope and you’re set.
I remember when I was a kid, my grandma took me shopping (to help her open doors and carry her purchases for her)
she, like most women in LA, liked to go to the May Company Bargain Basement....
where the store (they were like Macy’s...big department stores...all over LA)....
where MayCo brought all their unsold merchandise, lowered the prices, and sold it all to bargain hunters
or rather, they sold almost all of it there
one dress i know...they didn’t sell...
there were about 40 women all mobbing one big sale table full of stuff
grandma grabbed a dress from the pile
unfortunately, at exactly the same moment, another old gal grabbed the other end of the same dress
neither one would yield (like cars on the highway)...
they both yanked and yanked harder and harder and harder...
until you heard this giant RIP and the damned dress was torn right in half!
both old gals tossed their halves back onto the counter, and
the dress died there
unsold,..
ha!
at least I didn’t have to carry it home for her
all 40 women just kept right on with their melee...gotta get those bargains!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Obviously, none of these people made a 10+ dish traditional Thanksgiving dinner. I’m exhausted from the day which started early. To think of doing this crazy cr@p is unreal.
My family and my time is much more valuable. No price tags, no discounts, just good memories. Priceless!
