Last weekend, my housemate and I were mugged at gunpoint while walking home from Dupont Circle. The entire incident lasted under a minute, as I was forced to the floor, handed over my phone and was patted down.
And yet, when a reporter asked whether I was surprised that this happened in Georgetown, I immediately answered: Not at all. It was so clear to me that we live in the most privileged neighborhood within a city that has historically been, and continues to be, harshly unequal. While we arent often confronted by this stark reality west of Rock Creek Park, the economic inequality is very real.

And the next time this pu$$y gets mugged and the perp decides to off him, what’s he gonna think?
LOL!
Yes, by all means—give up all of your belongings to those who hate you in order to “understand” them better. It’s your fault they’ve had such a hard life anyways.
Stockholm syndrome......
The fact that my neighbors have more than me has never been a source of envy for me. Instead, I say good for them.
In return I gain their respect and trust.
Too bad liberals don’t have a little name tag identifying them as such, so criminals could just attac k them when they want to take something or rape something or kill something without consequences.
“I wasn’t carrying”
You live in a privileged neighborhood by choice. If you're so worried about the under-privileged, move into a black ghetto to make yourself feel better.
I once stopped with my Dad in one of the black districts in DC back in the 80s. It was like stepping into a Third World country.
Needless to say we didn’t hang around. Its still the murder capital of America.
“Well he had to, didn’t he? I mean there was nothing else he could do, be fair. I had transgressed the unwritten law.”
Therefore the goal of changing moral certitude* can be accomplished.
If You can convince people that crimes such as stealing, murder, etc is permitted if you are black. Then, any action to stop such behavior would be the real crime.
*Moral certitude is the unwavering assent of the mind to what expresses the normal mode of human conduct
After all, without God’s laws to guide us, what is right and wrong is purely subjected to man’s whims.
“And the next time this pu$$y gets mugged and the perp decides to off him, whats he gonna think?”
That he deserved it!
Well, so much for the theory that many conservatives are just liberals who have been mugged.
Housemate? Is that a naval term?
I'd say he deserved it.
So Sorry, Mr Mugger. I know it is my fault that you mugged me and I hope to have more for you the next time. There will be a next time won’t there?
Same mindset of a young couple or a couple of girls moving into a ‘new’ neighborhood in the inner city.
Cops I knew used to say they would normally last about 2 months and a lot of times had to forfeit deposits and get charged for breaking leases.
Sadly, all the pleading by parents and local officials does NOT turn these youngsters (male and female) away as they believe there is ‘good’ in everyone.
Like Reginald Denny ‘forgiving’ his attackers because he knew it was nothing personal with him so it must have been his own fault.
Only one thing to do....
Relocate colleges to richer neighborhoods.
This is impossible because gun control
SSDP? Same sex dom part?
