A structure once believed to form part of an ancient town is identified as a 5,000 year old monument believed to have been used to honour the Mesopotamian moon god 'Sin'
A stone monument in the shape of a crescent moon found in northern Israel is more than 5,000 years old, archaeologists have said.
The structure, known as Rujum en-Nabi Shua'ayb or Jethro Cairn, is located near the Sea of Galilee and predates the construction of Stonehenge, the Great Pyramid in Egypt, as well as the writing of the Bible.
It was initially discovered in the early part of the 20th century, and was thought to form part of an anciant city's defensive walls.
Butt doctoral student Ido Wachtel from Hebrew University in Jerusalem recently made a convincing case that the construction served as a monument in its own right.

Looks like the Turkish flag or something
Is it a coincidence that the moon God was named “Sin”?
Do you suppose this cult was so bad they named sin after Sin?
Hmmm...let me think ‘bout that.
Our word for sinning came from ancient Moon God practices.
Interesting that Abraham left UR which was a moon worshipping region.
His people then moved to a sun worshipping region (Egypt). Then they found I AM.
You forgot the god’s name: Sin.
Possibly, but there was a Wilderness of Sin in the Bible:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wilderness_of_Sin
It’s where the Israelites first ate manna from Heaven, most likely in the Sinai peninsula.
Sin was the name of a widespread moon god of the heathen, even up to the time of Mohammed..................
Here’s and interesting bit:
From Wiki:
Sin had a beard made of lapis lazuli and rode on a winged bull. The bull was one of his symbols, through his father, Enlil, “Bull of Heaven”, along with the crescent and the tripod (which may be a lamp-stand)
The Israelites made a ‘Golden Calf’ in the desert while waiting for Moses to come down from the mountain, and we all know how that ended up...............
Or maybe an early Colts fan........................
Careful what you ask for. Men have butts too you know....
Dial 1-800-Mix-A-Lot!
this will do it... the muzzies will claim they were there first and demand the destruction of israel...
it is all over.

The Middle East is a hidebound place—what is old is new again—Moon god—Allah same thing. Assyrians were a cruel heartless people—who cut off heads and murdered their way across the history books—They invented the cross for killing people—Looks like IS is using it now. Strangely enough—Assyrians were the first to give women rights—Why? Not because they thought women were a man’s egual—but the Emperors needed troops—women could have babies that could grow into warriors. If a man beat a woman, forcing her to have a mischarage—he would suffer a slow, painful death on the cross. If a prostitute was beaten and had a mischarage—the man who beat her was given a lesser sentence—All the skin was riped from his body—to die in a few hours!
Sinai might have been named after this moon-god? or visa versa. Interesting
And don't forget that the Israelites wandered in the Wilderness of Sin for awhile as described in the Book of Numbers.
They dwelled in sin until they were brought to the promise land!
Yep.
Actually, I am a bass player, but also fretless! :-)
I was once lost in the wilderness of sin,
But now I’m found.
Moon god? It looks just like a curvy highway...
