Mike Cutler, a 63-year-old grandfather, allegedly killed his cancer cells with homemade cannabis oil, after receiving his second liver cancer diagnosis in five years.
The cancer survivor was first diagnosed with liver cancer in 2009 after he blacked out at work, after which he then received an organ transplant in November of that year. However, last year, his health took a turn for the worst when he found out new cancerous cells were attacking his new organ.
A liver transplant and a second cancer diagnosis later, Cutler decided to buy marijuana from a dealer and make his tablets from the oil to treat his condition. The grandfather admits that after three days of taking one capsule, his severe pain disappeared and eventually began to cough up blood, which he believes contained the dead cancer cells. I cant believe cannabis oil isnt being used regularly as treatment. It is a miracle cure."

From what i've seen, most of that "research" comes from people with agendas. They start out trying to prove the stuff is beneficial
What have you seen that leads you to this conclusion?
Six years of people posting similar articles. [...] They aren't "researchers" per se, they are specifically POT researchers
So by "researchers" you mean people posting articles, not scientists. I think the latter are what BuckeyeTexan was talking about.
And how do you know if the cancer is gone or not? How do you know if it was killed by THC? That one paper was written in 2009. If it's so effective, where are the clinical trials? I would think Spain would get right on this. They could become the cancer treatment center of the world.
Meanwhile, if it turns out all the claims are Bullshit, but we've legalized the stuff based on bullshit like this, what do we do? Say "oooooopppppssss!" ?
A lot of stuff works on Cancer in a petri dish. Not so much in the human body.
The real truth about articles such as this is that most of the promoters do not give a rats behind about curing cancer, they are just trying to build a case for legalizing/decriminalizing the stuff so they can smoke it.
If i'm wrong, i'll be happy to look at OTHER posts from this same group of people on the topic of cancer. I'm betting all these people promoting the cancer treating properties of Pot, probably have no other treatments for cancer on their radar.
They post about THIS form of treatment, because it isn't really about cancer, it's about fooling people. "Cancer treatment" is just a tool they use to do this.
If you aren't using any intellectual honesty, I don't see why I should either.
And that's based on research from DiogenesLamp's Suspicions. Never heard of that outfit.
You are here providing evidence in support of the claim.
Straw men arguments are so Alinsky.
So is argumentum ad vericundiam and argumentum ad populum, which is what you have so far provided.
It just looks like bananas to you because you're stoned.
When you have liver cancer start coughing up blood it means that you have lost the ability to clot blood which was one of the functions of the liver (to provide the factors for clotting).
“In the General/Chat forum, on a thread titled This Grandfather Allegedly Cured Liver Cancer With Homemade Cannabis Oil, ConservingFreedom wrote:...
“Exactly wrong - Big Pharma can’t patent cannabis so they have no interest in its medical benefits.”
If they could make money selling pot in any form, they would in a heartbeat. Typically, this requires changing one molecule I order to patent it. Just consider “medical” fish oil.
You cannot hardly tell the differences anymore. There are plenty of scientists that will "research" anything they are paid to research. The tobacco companies used to have scads of them proving tobacco was harmless.
It is a pain in the @ss trying to figure out if a report is from a legitimate researcher, or someone specifically researching to prove pot is good for you.
Take this lot in Spain. I've already spent more time on it than I liked, and I've found out d@mn little about them. I don't know who is funding them, where they did their research, and whether they were researching cancer specifically, or pot's application to cancer. Judging by the article it sounds as if they started out with Pot in mind.
I found one reference that they also tested capsaicin, and that lends them a bit of credibility in my mind, but most of what I found is Canabanoids and THC.
The internet is stuffed full of references to these (Spanish) people and Canabanoids, and virtually every pro-drug source on the internet links their work. Valid work (if any) is drowned in a sea of references from Pro-Drug sources. Negative or detrimental results are not so widely propagandized, though I have seen such studies.
Friend Says Hillary Clinton Was an Enthusiastic Pot User in Her Youth
Asked last month for her opinion of marijuana, Hillary Clinton told CNNs Christiane Amanpour, I didnt do it when I was young, Im not going to start now.Not so fast, says Daniel Halper. In his new book Clinton, Inc., which hits bookshelves today, Halper quotes a friend and law-school classmate of the former first lady and New York senator who says: I think shes acknowledged it, and if she hasnt acknowledged it everybody else will tell you: She was an enthusiastic pot user.

Cancer Treatment
No clinical trials of Cannabis as a treatment for cancer in humans were identified in a PubMed search; however, a single, small study of intratumoral injection of delta-9-THC in patients with recurrent glioblastoma multiforme reported potential antitumoral activity.[14,15]

Antitumor Effects
One study in mice and rats suggested that cannabinoids may have a protective effect against the development of certain types of tumors.[3] During this 2-year study, groups of mice and rats were given various doses of THC by gavage. A dose-related decrease in the incidence of hepatic adenoma tumors and hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) was observed in the mice. Decreased incidences of benign tumors ( polyps and adenomas) in other organs ( mammary gland, uterus, pituitary, testis, and pancreas) were also noted in the rats. In another study, delta-9-THC, delta-8-THC, and cannabinol were found to inhibit the growth of Lewis lung adenocarcinoma cells in vitro and in vivo .[4] In addition, other tumors have been shown to be sensitive to cannabinoid-induced growth inhibition.[5-8]
Cannabinoids may cause antitumor effects by various mechanisms, including induction of cell death, inhibition of cell growth, and inhibition of tumor angiogenesis invasion and metastasis.[9-12] Two reviews summarize the molecular mechanisms of action of cannabinoids as antitumor agents.[13,14] Cannabinoids appear to kill tumor cells but do not affect their nontransformed counterparts and may even protect them from cell death. These compounds have been shown to induce apoptosis in glioma cells in culture and induce regression of glioma tumors in mice and rats. Cannabinoids protect normal glial cells of astroglial and oligodendroglial lineages from apoptosis mediated by the CB1 receptor.[15]
The effects of delta-9-THC and a synthetic agonist of the CB2 receptor were investigated in HCC.[16] Both agents reduced the viability of HCC cells in vitro and demonstrated antitumor effects in HCC subcutaneous xenografts in nude mice. The investigations documented that the anti-HCC effects are mediated by way of the CB2 receptor. Similar to findings in glioma cells, the cannabinoids were shown to trigger cell death through stimulation of an endoplasmic reticulum stress pathway that activates autophagy and promotes apoptosis. Other investigations have confirmed that CB1 and CB2 receptors may be potential targets in non-small cell lung carcinoma [17] and breast cancer.[18]
An in vitro study of the effect of CBD on programmed cell death in breast cancer cell lines found that CBD induced programmed cell death, independent of the CB1, CB2, or vanilloid receptors. CBD inhibited the survival of both estrogen receptorpositive and estrogen receptornegative breast cancer cell lines, inducing apoptosis in a concentration-dependent manner while having little effect on nontumorigenic, mammary cells.[19]
CBD has also been demonstrated to exert a chemopreventive effect in a mouse model of colon cancer.[20] In the experimental system, azoxymethane increased premalignant and malignant lesions in the mouse colon. Animals treated with azoxymethane and CBD concurrently were protected from developing premalignant and malignant lesions. In in vitro experiments involving colorectal cancer cell lines, the investigators found that CBD protected DNA from oxidative damage, increased endocannabinoid levels, and reduced cell proliferation. In a subsequent study, the investigators found that the antiproliferative effect of CBD was counteracted by selective CB1 but not CB2 receptor antagonists, suggesting an involvement of CB1 receptors.[21]
Another investigation into the antitumor effects of CBD examined the role of intercellular adhesion molecule-1 (ICAM-1).[12] ICAM-1 expression has been reported to be negatively correlated with cancer metastasis. In lung cancer cell lines, CBD upregulated ICAM-1, leading to decreased cancer cell invasiveness.
In an in vivo model using severe combined immunodeficient mice, subcutaneous tumors were generated by inoculating the animals with cells from human non-small cell lung carcinoma cell lines.[22] Tumor growth was inhibited by 60% in THC-treated mice compared with vehicle-treated control mice. Tumor specimens revealed that THC had antiangiogenic and antiproliferative effects. However, research with immunocompetent murine tumor models has demonstrated immunosuppression and enhanced tumor growth in mice treated with THC.[23,24]
In addition, both plant-derived and endogenous cannabinoids have been studied for anti- inflammatory effects. A mouse study demonstrated that endogenous cannabinoid system signaling is likely to provide intrinsic protection against colonic inflammation.[25] As a result, a hypothesis that phytocannabinoids and endocannabinoids may be useful in the risk reduction and treatment of colorectal cancer has been developed.[26-29]
CBD may also enhance uptake of cytotoxic drugs into malignant cells. Activation of the transient receptor potential vanilloid type 2 (TRPV2) has been shown to inhibit proliferation of human glioblastoma multiforme cells and overcome resistance to the chemotherapy agent carmustine.[30] In an in vitro model, CBD increased TRPV2 activation and increased uptake of cytotoxic drugs, leading to apoptosis of glioma cells without affecting normal human astrocytes. This suggests that coadministration of CBD with cytotoxic agents may increase drug uptake and potentiate cell death in human glioma cells.
It's easy to post a mountain of crap and then allege that it supports you and that it's non-biased. The other side has to weigh through all that crap and look up sources to refute it.
It simply isn't worth the time or trouble because it won't make the slightest dent on your opinion if your studies are challenged or disproved or shown to be biased or from biased sources.
Again, this isn't about Cancer, this is about using "Cancer" (really Pot) research as a tool to push for smoking.
If any of that crap is true, time will bear it out. I have time. I'll wait.
Anyone who wants to educate themselves do some searching on the Endocannabiniod System, there is lots of scientific information on it on internet, youtube has some good videos. Endocannabinoids are protein compounds produced in our bodies and directly connected to our immune system and it’s effectiveness in countering disease in our bodies. These endocannabinoids are transferred into our organs and brains via specialized receptors named CB1 and CB2 receptors. The effectiveness of our immune system in the different organs and our brains is dependent on these endocannbinoids.
Phytocannabinoids which are found in the cannabis plant also fit into and pass through these CB1 and CB2 receptors and help boost our immune system both in preventing disease and removing disease at the cell molecular level.
The cannabis plant has 70 different types of cannabinoids only one THC is psychoactive (gets you high). THC is produced by heating THCv a natural cannabinoid found in the cannabis plant that is not psychoactive. That is why those wants to get high smoke it / burn it/ heat it, the THCv is converted to THC. Medical cannabis oil can be taken without getting high and there are hundreds of scientific studies from medical researchers from around the world showing the effectiveness of medical cannabis, especially against auto-immune diseases like cancers, arthritis, crohn’s, diabetes, Schizophrenia, Lou Gehrig’s disease. Also Parkinson’s, Alzheimers and other dementia diseases. the Israeli’s are miles ahead of the rest the world in understanding the endocanninboid system and the beneficial connection using the Phytocannabinoids found in the cannabis plant.
Thousands of Israeli’s are treated in the Israel hospitals and medical programs with cannabinoids, these are very smart people using science to help sick people and in many cases beat disease using this plant medicine. Spanish are probably in second and other European countries next. The US has the scientific studies and is starting to get the political will to fight against the powerful interests opposed to use this plant for medicine.
Chemical medicine, pharmaceuticals do more damage than good in many people’s opinions including mine. Hundreds of thousands of deaths per year and millions of diseases result from pharmaceuticals. Did you know chemotherapy drugs cause cancer? That is a fact, ask an Oncologist, he or she may try not to answer directly but if you press they know it to be the truth. Chemo drugs have a 2.3% survival rate and in fact kill more people than cancer. 75% of US Oncologists surveyed say they would not use chemo or radiation if they had cancer. Chemo drugs provide the largest portion of big phrama profits which totals over a trillion $ a year.
I figure God knew what He was doing when He gave us plants including for our health. I consider most pharmaceuticals (phramakeia witchcraft according to bible) to be poison.
Genesis 1:29 God said, Behold, I have given you every plant yielding seed that is on the face of all the earth, and every tree with seed in its fruit. You shall have them for food.
BTW, I think getting intoxicated on any drug is just plain dumb including pot and alcohol, but I don’t want either of them criminalized nor do I think free people should be thrown in jail for what they put in their own bodies.

They are the citations given by the National Cancer Institute (at http://www.cancer.gov/cancertopics/pdq/cam/cannabis/healthprofessional/page4#Section_26) for the antitumor effects of marijuana's active components. Will you be claiming that the National Cancer Institute is all about legalizing pot?
Again, this isn't about Cancer, this is about using "Cancer" (really Pot) research as a tool to push for smoking.
And you know this although you haven't and won't look at any of the studies. Very impressive.
It simply isn't worth the time or trouble because it won't make the slightest dent on your opinion if your studies are challenged or disproved or shown to be biased or from biased sources.
It's my opinion you're focused on? You think too small - any FReeper in search of insight can read this thread. I'm making available facts, while you're making available your self-contained reality where all evidence presented for the medical benefits of marijuana is deemed unreliable because it's been presented as evidence the medical benefits of marijuana.
Cannabis is a great cure for ANEREXIA.
It didn’t help Bob Marley
LOL!
I’m not interested in discussing the push for pot legalization today. Sorry.
