KANSAS CITY, Miss., May 30 (UPI) --A US Airways flight from Los Angeles to Philadelphia was forced to make an emergency landing in Kansas City after a service dog started pooping in the aisle and the flight crew was unable to contain the mess.
The passengers aboard US Airways Flight 598 could only sit back and watch while a big dog defecated in the aisle not once, but twice.
After the dog went to the bathroom for the first time about an hour into the flight, the crew did their best to deal with the mess but they were unable to contain the smell.
"An hour later, it still smelled bad, and after they cleaned it all up, it pooped again," Passenger Steve McCall told INSIDE EDITION. "A couple of people started dry-heaving, a couple of people were throwing up."

Many don’t know that not all dogs that assist the blind are seeing eye dogs. Seeing Eye is a brand name but has become the same as Xerox is to copying.

My question is was this a real service dog, like a guide dog for the blind or something like that? Or was this one of those phony baloney ‘I need my doggie for my emotional welfare’ kind of service dogs?

My dog dont like restaurant food. I threw down a half eaten big mac once. She just walked up and sniffed it and walked away. McDonald's, huh? Now, there's a dog with a functioning palate.

If this dog was full of poop how did he get past the TSA?

I am aware of that, but it frustrates me. I raised a guide dog pup once. A puppy RAISER, not a puppy trainer. and the rules were useful, but myriad. And strict. And I took our pup to the airport too (although we never got on a plane) But he was a professional on his way to being a useful service animal, not just some random pet that it felt good to pat.

or unless the owner hadn’t given them time and place on which to poop. Then he’d be frantic with need.
I know you’re right, but i wasn’t going to go into what that would mean to the aisle floor and the people around them. ughhhh

And where would you put the crate? Real service dogs are trained to lie by the master’s feet, even for long periods. I still disagree with you. The blind person needs them sometimes, on the flight. Real service dogs are also trained to only do their business when told to

Unless they are sick. And it sounds like this one was ill.
Now it might have been a case of his owner not taking care of him or he might have picked something up. Don't know.
But in any case the dog could not help it.

I know someone that got one of those phony emotional support deals so that their dog could fly in the cabin with them in their lap. Pay a little money, get a doctor's note, and they were good to go. http://usdogregistry.org/ It sounds like this dog had stress colitis, which is very smelly and isn't going to stop soon on its own. I really think that they had no choice but to land ASAP.
To: Harmless Teddy Bear
No, I completely blame the owner!!!!

Geez all this fuss over dog poo..this is why we wouldn’t take our boys on a plane, Maxie is quite the pooper when he gets nervous..just take a paper towel and clean it up its not like he peed on the carpet

Already read this but just went to the Weather Channel’s website and saw this headline;
“Dog Poops On Plane, Forces Landing”
Imagine the mental pictures that would give some. Would get a few thinking “what else is flying around up there with the planes and birds?”
