4 Doctors on Coconut Oil & Dementia
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L6JAqimRQkk

4 doctors discuss the benefits of coconut oil for people with dementias such as Alzheimer’s. For more details, check out:
http://www.Eat2think.com/search/label...
(Click on the Coconut Oil Library for videos & articles on using Coconut Oil for dementias such as Alzheimer’s.)

Dr. Anderson advocates coconut oil for his nursing home’s Alzheimer’s & dementia diet. He explains 3 core benefits:

1. Coconut oil is rich in MCTs, which provide ketones as brain backup fuel. This can help offset the lack of energy from glucose that is common to a brain with dementia.

2. Coconut oil offers a low-carb solution to insulin resistance from diabetes. (Type-2 diabetes is common in seniors with dementia. Alzheimer’s is sometimes called Type-3 diabetes.)

3. Dr. Anderson sees these benefits incidentally improving problems of agitation, behavior and too many pills.

Watch the comments and hear the insights from this panel of doctors.

I’ve looked into this. It seems that for every solid (major university) study that supports the coconut oil theory, there are a couple of studies that don’t.

Consider the placebo effect. A weight lifter told me that any diet or exercise program can result in great success as long as the individual buys the hype behind it. The mind is a powerful thing. Believe the good studies and maybe your mind will make the results happen lol.

Buy virgin, non-hydrogenated, cold pressed, unrefined, organic stuff. You can find it at Trader Joes, the Asian foods section of the supermarket, Amazon.com, etc.

Eat about one to four teaspoons of it a day. If you take too much it’ll act as a laxative.

My med terms teacher mentioned to the class the other day that Alzheimer’s is now being thought of as Diabetes 3...just like this guy stated in the video.

I got some coconut oil a few months ago at the health food store. I haven’t started taking it yet, but I’ve heard it’s good for keratosis pilaris. I think I’m going to start taking this. I would mention it to my mom to give to my dad who has Alzheimer’s, but she would resist doing anything that helps. Maybe I’ll mention it to my brother and he can buy some while he’s up here visiting.

What about the senile, dementia-ridden, Alzheimer-reduced elderly that don’t know what’s going on and they respond positively to it? Placebo effect? Most likely not.

I'll pass, thanks - I've rollicked in this demented state for over six decades - why change now?

I’m going to recommend it to a guy I know who has trouble sleeping. It might just help him.

It seems it might be good for a lot of things. It’s worth a try...just for general health. I’m starting my jar tonight.

I put it on my dogs’ food.

Their overall health has improved and their coats shine like black obsidian.

Fas as I know, they’ve not read any of the claims.

:)
