Roger Bowley, a physics professor at the University of Nottingham, explains why holding a key fob next to your brain can help extend its signal. He also demonstrates the same effect using a bottle of water, which comes in handy when trying to unlock a car.
I suppose a more accurate title would be 'helping' to unlock a car with your brain. But it's still neat.
I think I tried this once and it didn’t work. It couldn’t mean I am weak in the head could it?
This was back in the 80s and 90s. We always used this method to gain range. Just hold the remote to your chin.
Very cool! Thanks!
If the keys were dropped into that gallon of water, it should work even better, right, huh?
It’s not unlocking a car with your brain.
Typical misleading hype of a headline, with an article that disappoints.
It’s about the effect of a mass of water on an antenna. The brain is full of mush which is mostly water.
“...unlocking you car with your brain...”
Soon to be outsmarted by “unlocking your car with somebody else’s head...” Simply bash someone’s head through the glass.
My Python system has a mile range, and the remote has a status display and vibrates and beeps for the different alerts (bump/break-in/low batt, etc). It’s pretty cool. If my son is playing his stereo too loud in the garage/shop, I can trip my car alarm without walking downstairs. LOL.
