Its borderline abusive, inhumane and unjustifiably despicable. Our troops go and serve proudly for months on end, and return to a situation that sometimes proves to be more emotionally disturbing than what they faced on active duty. Please read the story below, and if you had no idea of this reality, I regret to inform you, this is the new cost of the liberty and freedom we all enjoy.

All those Colonel’s, and Generals going around saying “you know, I just love soldiers, it’s important for leaders to love soldiers”, are full of crap. They love soldiers who help them get promoted by getting blown away in a highly efficient manner that makes the General look good. Other than that, not so much.
‘You’ read this, today, in the era of the “since-Vietnam-fixed-V.A.MedicalSystem”.
If this is ‘fixed’, now do you understand how bad things were for those of us who served in SouthEast Asia, during the Vietnam War, where ‘everybody’ hated us at home?
The generals and such have no control over this. They, and other ranking military and lower ranks, universally despise the VA.
In the article it states: “Even though his retirement date was Nov. 27, 2013, just last week he was told by someone at the Florida VA office that he still needs to wait anywhere from 2 to 15 more months to start receiving his pay”
That is not what you may think it means.
He receiving his Army retirement pay. He is waiting for the VA, you know, the CIVILIAN monstrosity run by civilians, to process his VA disability claim. The military has no control or influence over the VA.
When she writes; “While we are still under the ARMYs umbrella,” this means the Army is paying him the same retirement as everyone else with the same time and grade.
He receives retirement pay now. Taxable. He is waiting for his non-taxable disability pay where his taxable portion will be reduced by the amount of disability he receives. (But with his elevated rating he may receive his Army pay in addition to the VA disability pay).
What we are seeing here is VA sloth by CIVILIANS that run and process claims. The military do not process the claims.
Just to be clear. . .direct your anger at the VA, not the Army or generals or whoever else you blame other than the VA.
And one wonders, why she and he have not contacted their congressman for assistance. I did and it moved things along quickly.
By the way, soldiers dying under your command does not make generals or colonels or anyone in a leadership position “look good.” It has the opposite effect, actually.
I guess you have a lot of experience with “All those Colonels, and Generals” and how they really feel, huh?
Very well said!
Thank you.
I’ve seen enough. When they start talking about “loving soldiers”, you know you have a winner.
And when they start talking about things they have no experience with you know have a looser.
That should be loser, not looser, but my hands are sort of shaking right now from anger.
They Thank me for my service, better than being A$$holed I guess. To me it is a sin of Pride to revel in doing ones duty as my family has for a couple of centuries.
I think you are missing the point: this situation has nothing to do with the Army.

Sin? Revel? Generational Military Service, you say??
All these things are anathema to Obama, donchaknow!
I, too, find it amazing, all these years, after I corrected the attitude of the “****” mother, who made her little innocent daughter come up to me, kick me in the shins, “my mommy said you are a babykiller”, and spit on my dress USAF blues, in SanFranInternational airport.
Revel? No. I was fighting the spread of Communism. You see, in my high school, and my part-time job during high school, I worked with Cubans straight from Havana, first generation off-the-boat Ukrainians, and a few whose parents got out alive from East Berlin. My Economics teacher was an US Army interrogator at Nurenburg.
Sin? Since when is love of your country, and what it really means to be an American, a sin, even in the performance of one’s duty, of the country that bore you? THIS nation is my home. There is no other on the face of the Earth, that I would choose. If that means being a patriot to the last, that is not a sin.
