I am done. This site has broken me. I am as staunch a conservative as you will find. After returning from Iraq, injured and upset, I turned here and found a welcoming community that shared my thoughts. I am a proud Gadsden Flag waiving man of the Tea Party movement. But because I don't think Sarah Palin is as historically important as other GOP women in the past, I am now considered an idiot, a RINO, ass-kisser and whatever negative connotation you can throw my way. This site has changed so much since that dictator want to be became President it sickens me. It's lost its sense of community and has ran off many a good person. Heck even the Tea Party seems to be distorted here.
Why not just avoid the threads/posters that irritate you? That’s what I do.
Unless you are the one who constantly brings up Palin in a contentious way and then gets irritated if people defend her.
I love her to pieces (I’m a facebook fan even) but honestly I haven’t read a word about her here in months. Not that there haven’t been things to read, but I just haven’t read them.

Why quit over Palin of all things? She is not running anything now, she is not running for President again. She is a conservative semi-celebrity that does nature shows and occasionally releases commentary on political events. Plenty of conservatives can’t stand her just like, virtually any other conservative personality.
Anyways, thank you for your service. One honest soldier is worth 100 politicians.
As long as the right keeps letting people thrash the people on our side that actually help make a difference, the left will KEEP electing morons.

jUST TAKE A BREATHER....I am a fan of palin, but have many times here expressed my reservations about her ability to go beyond the very conservative base, and some of her choices i did not agree with, and yeah I got slammed.
A lot of the comments are BLOVIATING, but either I am in the mood to respond to stupid stuff, or I let it roll. You can get burned out here, so take a break.
Good internet is like good radio. Somebody has to get mad and get bleeped for it to be any good.
I’m a huge Palin fan.
That said, I don’t think you should leave. People have varied opinions. I think the Internet has tended to polarize people even more...it’s probably a good idea to try and find more common ground. We need to band together and try and fix the many ills that plague America today.

I say that just as I tell Libertarians and Constitutionalists that they have made us all - Conservatives in total - weaker by NOT doing as social conservatives began doing in the 1960s - fight up and down the grass roots of the GOP to back THEIR people for office and/or in office in the GOP; carving out a solid social conservative “wing” in the GOP; instead of leaving, splintering the totality of Conservatism.
We all - all Conservatives - have more in common than our differences. That is not a call to disregard those differences, all the time. It is only a call to find common ground when we can and I think that is and will be always more often than we ever can with the Libs/Left.
I have not been a party to the threads wherein you voiced any opinion on Palin. Myself, I like her a lot, but I don’t think I put her above every GOP woman.
I’d sure like to hear your thoughts.
Only, be warned, you need a thick skin here sometimes; those whom you’ve already disagreed with, might come in to this thread with the same negative thoughts.
For myself, I will not give-in just to agree with someone, and if someone wants to make it a personal attack, they just, in time, become someone I start to ignore, even when what they to say is directed to me.

Sarah Palin is the most exciting thing to happen to the GOPe since Reagan was nominated for President. Ted Cruz has the same feeling for the base.
Whether or not she is as “important” as other Republican women in the past, Jeane Kirkpatrick is the only contender I can think of on the top of my head, is a different question.
I think Palin is important because she does fire up the base, who besides her and Cruz has been doing that?
People have opinions. I don’t think YOU should be attacked, just your opinions. Mine too. Everyone needs to be able to stick to their guns when challenged, makes them understand WHY they think what they do.
A lot of people, leftists, have opinions and could not explain why they have those opinions other than some celebutard said something or its currently a popular thing.
So this is not a good enough reason for quitting Free Republic, IMO.
