Average American conservatives, many of them self-associated with the Tea Party movement, are dancing a little jig, this time in warm light. In the negotiated draft of the recently passed omnibus spending bill, they got their beloved incandescent lights back.
Many only realized after a Christmastime flurry of emails that the yellow bulbs were becoming illegal in 2014. In fact, the federal law which nearly made them extinct for home use has been on the books almost seven years.

I’m kinda waiting for them to “grant” babies an allotted amount of CO2 that can be used over their life span. Exceed it and you’re gone. Except for the “protected classes” who may purchase additional credits if “necessary”. Think a new take on “Logan’s Run”.
I thought I read someplace the “industrial” incan bulbs with a 58 watt rating were available. Some smart someone found a loophole somehow.
I lost a 100 watter yesterday. Sniff! It gave it’s life to keep my water from freezing. R.I.P. Soft White.
Oh, everyone will be able to “purchase” more carbon credits in their lifetime, but they’ll be expensive enough to accomplish the real goal of the elites maintaining their lifestyle while the “commoners” have to live in squalor.
I have almost as many bulbs as I do ammo.
I have a 100 watter under the hood of a loader to keep the block warm on these cold nights. All it takes to make the difference between go and no-go snow plowing
I have bought those Walmart bulbs also but they don't last very long at all! But hey, our city was kind enough to use our tax money to send two long lasting cfl's to every household, so I put one in a fixture and and it lasted three whole days. I guess I'm a polluter because I didn't waste gas to drive it's mercury riddled corpse to a approved recycling site.
Lowe’s had a special on the 100-watt ( pack of 24 ) couple weeks ago ,don’t remember the price . Did get a couple packs for the barn .
It alluded to some provision in a recently passed omnibus spending bill. No idea where to find it or what it says.
Didn't you just describe obamacare?
There is a similar issue with clear incandescent light bulbs. They give off much more heat than a frosted bulb. But normally those bulbs outlast the frosted bulbs by a lot. If you use clear light bulbs, use them in a well vented fixture.
GE was behind the lightbulb ban.
In fact, GE is behind most of the bad global warming science, so as to push its “green” electric turbines and windmills.
Yeah,
Guy in NJ, the loophole was that heavy duty or rough duty (not sure about exact language) was not impacted by the ban. He got court approval and was looking at starting up production.
In our wills..... the 60 watt bulbs shall be divided equally, per person, to the children and grandchildren who survive me... blah blah
LOL! We’ll have the “opportunity” to buy the extra credits. Only us peons won’t be able to afford them and the “protected classes” will have no problemo. Business as usual.
DOH! You caught me. LOL ;>}
I have a lifetime supply of 100 watt bulbs. I like it Bright.
I do think their would be a market for at least 100 watt incandescents. Probably not for a large corporation. In the winter I can get 6 weeks continuous use out of a bulb. To me that would be worth paying a couple of bucks per bulb which is still available but I see that supply drying up.
yet 250 Watt heat lamps are still available.
Way more than is needed in many cases, costs more to use, so it wastes far more coal-fired electricity just to make liberals feel good about themselves
