After the Seattle Seahawks won their first Super Bowl in franchise history on Sunday, fans in Seattle jumped on cars, took over intersections, torched couches, and riot police had to be brought in to restore order.

I would be very surprised if ANY city ever votes for conservatives. Cities are the problem.

Thanks to both of you! Seattle was VERY mellow compared to what I’ve read about other ‘celebrations’. I was ELATED that they won, enjoyed hearing all the fireworks going off around the neighborhood as I walked my Mom over to her house after the game. Still on Cloud 9, don’t give a crap about the haters that just HAVE to make some derogatory comment. Bush league, huh? We’ll see about that NEXT YEAR.

Minor!!??

I heard they arrested a person on frat row, and perhaps another downtown. /s

As I posted on another thread, the students that put the frat’s couches and mattresses on the bon-fire, I wonder if they’ll be forced to sleep in the bathrooms for a few nights?

I get tired of all the anti-Seattle stuff on here, as if there aren’t hordes of people in the South smoking pot, getting drunk, getting divorced, and having sex with people of the same sex. No, I don’t like the local politics, but I’ll take the climate and the geography and the low crime rate over pretty much anywhere in the USA.

All cities, worldwide, are “stuck on leftist politics”, and they have been, probably, since day one of their existence. There are very rare exceptions where actual conservatives do win political offices in cities, but they are, usually, temporary victories for conservatives and conservatism. Unfortunately, this is, also, the ongoing problem with maintaining the survival of long-term conservatism, overall, everywhere in the world. If conservatives can’t find successful ways of, finally and consistently, winning political races throughout all of the world’s cities, then conservatism will, eventually, become a political minority, worldwide, and, even, nonexistent throughout much of the world. In the U.S., if the electoral college is, eventually, abolished, then it will, always, be all of the U.S. cities who will determine who all future POTUS/VPOTUS are, and they will, always, be far leftists who end up winning all future races for POTUS/VPOTUS.

Uh, no.

Remember, if something cannot continue, it won’t. Big city politics depends on the ability and willingness of voters to be looted forever.

Even MINORITIES get wise after awhile, and people start voting with their feet, leaving the cities impoverished.

Best,

Chris

Exactly. It’s a beautiful state, despite the ultra-blue leanings of King County. I like being able to see Mt. Rainier out my kitchen window. I LOVE THE HAWKS TOO!!!! So, pffft! to the haters.

That was the most boring football game I ever tried to watch. The riots were probably a lot more entertaining. And the commercials just plain sucked.

Before I retired, I worked on the 50th floor of a building in downtown Seattle facing south towards Mt. Rainier. One morning, there was a cloud bank about 100 feet below me, stretching all the way to Mt. Rainier, which stood out snowy-white in a brilliant blue sky. Incomparable.

It wasn't boring for Seahawk fans.

"For God’s sake...please DON’T lump ALL of us with a few fools. 99% of the people out last night celebrating were doing JUST that...celebrating"

I don't, personally. I have a good (conservative!) friend from Washington state. She and her husband and son are currently living in Kentucky, due to the husband's work, but she's excited as can be. They all are. And they haven't torched a single couch. ;)

Oh BS. One or two couches photographed from ten different angles by the MSM equals a riot? When the Bronc’s won a SB people were smashing store windows and flipping cars over. The MSM is trying to make out that Seattle was rioting.

The one good thing you can say about the New York City area is that they do not have sports riots. Anytime a New York team wins, no riot. The reason might be we have more than one team in each league, thus when one team wins, a good portion of the population is bummed. If the Giants are in the Super Bowl, the Jets fans are rooting for them to lose.

I think the anti-Seattle people on FR need to be reminded that in most states the Rep/Dem split for presidential elections breaks about 53%/47%, it varies based on the candidate, and that there is probably no state in the country that isn’t at least 35-40% liberal. The Red State/Blue State dichotomy is largely a fabrication based on relatively minor differences, and that no one can afford to be smug merely because their state currently enjoys a 55%-45% conservative majority.

People in cities do vote with their feet, if they are able to, eventually, leave, but, they are, also, replaced by other people who vote leftist, as a majority. Even in cities with dwindling populations, they continue to vote, overwhelmingly, for leftist candidates for political office.

Your right, you have to look deeper into the demographics. For example you might think that Iowa is more conservative than NJ. However the white vote in Iowa went for Obama in 2012, while the white vote in NJ went easily for Romney.

A few frat boys playing “Animal House” in the front yard of the frat house is a riot? The Blaze is as guilty of warping reality for a headline as a typical liberal rag.

I smelled no smoke from burning buildings last night, but I do detect more than a hint of sour grapes today.
