Thanks to both of you! Seattle was VERY mellow compared to what I’ve read about other ‘celebrations’. I was ELATED that they won, enjoyed hearing all the fireworks going off around the neighborhood as I walked my Mom over to her house after the game. Still on Cloud 9, don’t give a crap about the haters that just HAVE to make some derogatory comment. Bush league, huh? We’ll see about that NEXT YEAR.
I get tired of all the anti-Seattle stuff on here, as if there aren’t hordes of people in the South smoking pot, getting drunk, getting divorced, and having sex with people of the same sex. No, I don’t like the local politics, but I’ll take the climate and the geography and the low crime rate over pretty much anywhere in the USA.
Hi fellow Hawks fans!
Thanks for your various posts above about our city and the so-called “riots” (which, as you have stated were nothing of the kind - - just media hype and a few young people that got a little out of hand).
There was some glass broken on top the Pergola at Pioneer Square, apparently it was done accidentally when a few, not so smart people thought it would be a good idea to stand on it. This, the sofa(s) at Frat Row at UW and 1 Starbucks window was the only destruction I’ve heard/read about. There were 6 or less arrests the whole night across the entire city and the entire Seattle PD was on.
BTW - not sure if you heard this or not, but wrt the Pergola, the original estimate was $25k to repair. A woman Seahawks fan thought it would be a good idea to see if she put something together to try to get donations from fans so the city didn’t have to bear the cost. She put a site up, asked for $12 donations from fans and in less than a day, over $16k had been collected. The repair cost was revised to $15k, so the fans have taken care of the repair.
I’m with you, Mama Shawna - - SO EXCITED!! My family and I are going to the event at CLINK today. Can’t wait!!
SEAHAWKS ARE #1 !!! (And so are their fans - the 12th man)
Best,
SC
