The Weekly Gardening Thread is a weekly gathering of folks that love soil, seeds and plants of all kinds. From complete newbies that are looking to start that first potted plant, to gardeners with some acreage, to Master Gardener level and beyond, we would love to hear from you. This thread is non-political, although you will find that most here are conservative folks. No matter what, you won’t be flamed and the only dumb question is the one that isn’t asked. It is impossible to hijack the Weekly Gardening Thread. There is no telling where it will go and... that is part of the fun and interest. Jump in and join us!

Of course, our dogs will eat anything we eat, but they’re not very fond of pickles though, they will eat them sometimes, sometimes not. But onions, garlic, maters, olives, yep!
The plant will likely come back if you baby it a bit. Mice. They’re not like the Disney cartoons!
Mmmmmm—now I’m doubting what I picked was sage after seeing this pic. We shall see what we shall see...
Doggone those varmints and vermin.... my friend;s son has a pet white rat. Anything ending with an ‘rat’ is always suspect, ehehehe.

Yo /johnny I was just out washing the truck and felt the big temp plunge...Typical N. Tx roller coaster winter ride. Back go the glass panes on tonight. Protecting our green, leafy babies out back as we fight the old man winter.
I had cilantro outside one winter. The morning after it got down to 16F it looked really really rough. Perked up a week or so later when we had a warm spell.
Naw Trish the blooms are the same color but the leaves are a little smaller and more shaped like Rosemary but not exactly. Dumbo me I should have taken a pic but my cell phone was back at the hotel that day. Danke though...
Ya mean I don't have to eat it to find out what it is? (' That would not be the 'sage' thang to do -- following a dimwit politician's advice.

I decided to start an herb garden a few years back. I figured if TSHTF and stuff was hard to get, I’d still have the basic herbs I need for soups and stuff.
I got some of the plants through mail order catalogs, and the rosemary and lemon thyme at WalMart.
I also have Greek oregano and English thyme besides the sage. The sage can get to quite a respectable size.
Oh, well. We should know soon. :)
From memory it looked a little bit like these pics of Russian sage--or related variety.
It is 75 degrees in my garden. I have planted the three blackberry plants using a number of layers of net in the bottom of the planters. By the time I did all that, I was sweating.
Engineer was supposed to be in Liberty County today, then come here and go home tomorrow. Well, he went to Liberty this morning and showed back up here around 1:00 pm and the company had called him to go to a well southwest of San Antonio. He has left to go there.
Tonight I have 50% chance of rain and 80% tomorrow, Saturday. Sunday night is supposed to be 30. Hope my garden doesn’t get that cold.
I have to have cilantro for my salsa, so I force it to keep it around all year long if I can.
I've never seen cilantro survive below about 40F around here.
