Enough with the multivitamins already.
If people eat their veggies and their greens and have a healthy diet then there’s no need for vitamin supplementals. But who does that? Really?
I seem to remember some talk about in the FDA looking at banning or greatly restricting sales of multivitamins in 2014 ....
Profit margins in pharma aren’t what you think. Compliance with regs means that the effective cost of bringing a new product to market is just under $1B.
Does this mean I won’t have to listen to the endless hucksterism by these medical charlatans pushing their vitamin and mineral snake oils on the weekend radio? No more Dr. Joel Wallach? Hallelujah!
I take a liquid vitamin that is awesome...
I've read many articles about vitamins over the years. The writer of the article would ask the question about vitamin benefits to some doctor or dietician. The latter would always say if you eat a proper diet, you don't need vitamins. Not ONCE!!! in those articles did the interviewer then ask the so-called expert "but what if you don't eat the proper diet?"
Obviously then, if you're eating a lousy diet or one without the necessary vitamins, vitamin supplements help. That's why they put them in cereals after the big flap in the early '70s about cereals having little nutritional benefits.

Here’s my problem with vitamins. The dosage. It’s too general.
Label says take one a day. Fine. Does this mean that a 100lb person takes the same dosage as a 300lb person? Should the 300lb take 3 pills or should the 100lbs take half a pill?
Meanwhile, when I give vitamins or supplements to my dog, it is done by weight. No room for guesswork.
Yep...These people are witch doctors.
As if everyone eats fresh nuts, uncooked vegetables and a piece of fish at every meal.
I’ll take my chances with a daily vitamin...or one every other day when I remember to take it.
I take a Zinc supplement daily. It really helps to ward off colds.
I take Vitamin D and haven’t had the flu in over 7 years. Everyone at the office got it but me, even the ones that had taken the flu shots.
My father use to have cold after cold until he started taking 1 multivitamin a day ,now he can’t remember the last time he had a cold
Steven Wright had a [comedy] bit on on vitamins: "I'm on a vitamin diet...I dunno, I dunno, do you know how many vitamins it takes to feel full?...When I go to the bathroom, I first put on Pink Floyd's 'Dark Side of the Moon' and turn out the bathroom light...technicolor!"
I'm going with using the multivitamin to help fill in the what I may not be getting.
First, they are going to ban vitamins and minerals for our protection. They will be Schedule 3 narcotics! Then—viola!—they are going to become prescription medicines!
Peg - Nancy?
First year med school lecture in organic chemistry my prof said if he could collect all the pee in the USA he would bottle it and stop all nutritional deficiency in the world. He laughed that we vitaminized, mineralized and nutritionalized everything except chewing tobacco and prunes.
Yes, for years. It is funny to me it’s happening all at once with Obamacare.
I thought at least I knew how to care for myself, now I will have to stock up.
I love Vit D 3
I agree for the most part, but the single-vitamin pills are useful for some medical conditions. My doctor advised me to take B12 supplements because of a deficiency and it has improved my overall health.
You are incorrect. Our soil is Very depleted. We do not get the vitamins and minerals our parents got from eating fruits and veggies.
