The health director who approved the release of President Obamas birth certificate has died in a plane crash, Hawaiian officials said Thursday.
Loretta Fuddy died after the Cessna Grand Caravan aircraft she was travelling on went down shortly after leaving Kalaupapa Airport at around 3:15 p.m. local time (10:15 a.m. ET) on Wednesday.
The other eight people on board were rescued, Richard Schuman, president of Makani Kai Air, told NBC News early Thursday, adding that that there was no indication as to why the plane had crashed.
Fuddy hit the headlines two years ago when she approved a waiver request allowing Obama to access certified copies of his birth certificate, signed by the delivery doctor, Obamas mother and the local registrar. His mother, then 18, signed her name (Stanley) Ann Dunham Obama.

Now it’s getting worse, where’s the body? Will there be an official cause of death after an autopsy, or are we going to be treated to another bucket of sand being tossed off the cliff into the ocean?
Just where did you see that information about the last rites? I mean a priest wouldn’t lie to you...would he?
PS. Aren’t Last Rites administered just before the person dies? Not after they have been fished out of the ocean? It’s a little late then...I always thought the dearly departed had to be still breathing to take part.
It doesn’t make sense that the pilot would have thought everybody was fine if Yamamoto left Fuddy in the fuselage unresponsive. It also doesn’t make sense that the HDOH would be telling everybody until 8pm that both Yamamoto and Fuddy had survived the crash, if Yamamoto knew differently.
Actually, the Last Rites can be administered up to an hour or so after clinical death. Nobody knows exactly at what moment the soul leaves the body. The priest should err on the side of giving the sacrament.

I’m at the point where I can see how she was in the water with the others, one swam a mile to shore, (how long did that take?) that left eight, seven were living, Fuddy was dead, eight people ended up on land, but where Fuddy ended up seems to be missing.
Greenperson says a priest gave her the Last Rites. And then what? Coroner, autopsy, official cause of death made public...
Or one of those mystery cremations and a bucket of sand over the cliff. They better watch it, we are onto them, LOL!

Adam Lanza and Sandy Hook.....small world. Maybe.
ok, so if the priest did that, she was either unconscious, or deceased.
But where does that information come from? Did someone interview the priest?
Who declared her dead?
I wondered what a care home is also. I was looking for the article about last rites and haven’t found it yet but found http://www.washingtonpost.com/national/small-plane-crashes-in-water-off-molokai-hawaii/2013/12/11/6d269be0-62e4-11e3-af0d-4bb80d704888_story.html which also talks about Fuddy being taken to a “care home”.
OK, here’s the one I saw earlier, about “conditional last rites” because the priest didn’t know when she died. http://www.foxnews.com/us/2013/12/12/hawaii-health-official-killed-in-plane-crash/
That one doesn’t make sense either, though, because it says that one person swam ashore, 3 were transported by helicopter to Honolulu for medical treatment, and a plane took 5 people to Maui. So was Fuddy one of the 5 people who were taken to Maui?
“Coast Guard Petty Officer Melissa McKenzie said a Coast Guard helicopter rescued three passengers from the water and Maui fire crews picked up others. One person swam ashore.
McKenzie said the helicopter transported three people to Honolulu for medical treatment, while a Coast Guard plane took five people to Maui.”
One of the articles also said that they don’t know the cause of death for Fuddy.
I hope they don’t get some inexperienced pathologist to do the autopsy, like they did with JFK.
So, the priest was in the water?
Where are you Loretta?
from your link:
Tom Matsuda, interim executive director of Hawaii's health insurance exchange, confirmed the death of Fuddy, who was on the board of the exchange. "I cannot even begin to convey what a terrible loss this is for Hawaii," Matsuda said in a statement. "I worked closely with Director Fuddy on the Affordable Care Act and came to know and respect her as a passionate advocate for public health and a warm, caring human being."
That's not an official announcement of death, is it? That's a comment from a colleague imo.
from your other link:
After the crash, Fuddys body was taken to a care home at Kalaupapa, where Killilea, the pastor of Kalaupapas St. Francis Church, said he made the sign of the cross on her forehead as she lay on a gurney surrounded by nurses and the distraught Yamamoto.
An autopsy was pending and the cause of her death had not yet been determined.
So that’s it for today. Eight were picked up, seven living, one deceased, and one swam a mile.
No, see #211.
Thanks.
The one that swam had best skedattle as far as far can be.
If we later learn that the pastor just so happens to be a blind man, I think I will feel a bit peeved about his account.
LOL! So will I...heaven knows upon whose forehead he traced the sign of the cross.
Yamamoto was seen being driven on Molokai that evening, wearing swimming trunks, according to one of the early reports, but this priest says that Fuddy was at this “care home” surrounded by nurses and the distraught Yamamoto, so neither of those 2 were among the 3 taken to Oahu by helicopter or the 5 taken to Maui by plane. So out of 9 people in the crash, we’ve got 8 people transported from the water to Oahu and Maui, 1 person who swam to shore and 2 who weren’t transported to either Oahu or Maui but went to the island they had come from and were at a “care home”.
So 11 out of the 9 people on board are accounted for...
Dang. A plug-in is needed for me to see those videos on my PC, but my PC won’t let me install the plug-in needed, just like it won’t let me install the driver for my speakers. And my laptop is not letting me connect to the wireless network here at home - won’t even recognize that the network exists.
This day has been a weird computer day, starting with my computer shutting itself off and turning itself back on just as I was about to freepmail somebody about a curious message I received. No other electricity switched on and off.
I would really like to see what the inside is like, to have an idea of the context.
Also, does anybody know how a person could find out what kind of currents and waves they’re talking about that would make the wreckage irretrievable?
All that help for Obama, and this is what happens???
Well, that's gratitude for ya! (walks off muttering about homicidal Presidents)
Again, thanks for remembering the DSL!
Aren't pilots supposed to file a flight plan? Maybe the FAA or NTSB have information on this (or maybe they were told to shut up)?
