Determining which restaurants in the nation offer the steepest prices is a tricky task. Most of the restaurants on this list serve the rarest, most premium, and freshest ingredients available, from kitchens run by chefs with expert levels of craftsmanship and artistry, in dining rooms with an exceptional quality of service provided by the front of house staff. But regardless of the justifications, the fact remains that the restaurants on this list are outrageously pricey.
To arrive at the top 25 we compiled a list of restaurants commonly known for being outrageously expensive (such as Masa, which is known for its $450 per person omakase menu). We started by first pulling data from The Daily Meal's 101 Best Restaurants in America for 2012, and then expanded the research to include a more comprehensive spectrum of fine dining restaurants across the country. From there we gathered data compiled by Bundle.com (a site that tracks average customer spending at restaurants) and Zagat's price ratings - finally, once the list was narrowed down to 50 restaurants, we contacted each one and asked a series of questions, such as their average party size, the percentage of diners that choose the tasting menu (where applicable), and what the average bill totals. From there, we ranked the top 25.
Of course, there are exceptions to consider. Some restaurants are known for offering a particularly expensive tasting menu based on seasonal ingredients. For instance, Spiaggia in Chicago offers a truffle tasting menu each December that costs $295 per person. However, during the rest of the year their tasting menu costs $90 a head (not pricey enough to land a spot on this list).

There are edible gold flakes in Goldschlager liqueur. The liqueur itself is cinnamon flavored - you don't taste the gold.
“#10 Victoria & Albert’s, Lake Buena Vista, Fla. $552 “
I too have eaten at Vikki and Al’s in the Grand Floridian at Disney World.
WE didn’t pay near that much to eat. Could have been that we don’t drink wine, but, it was a very good meal all the same.
We’ll eat there again.
Funny sorry about Ruth’s Chris in Palm Desert. My brothers dad married a rich lady that lived there so we went to visit. She kept a separate condo on a different golf course just for visitors. They made reservations at Ruth’s Chris and invited us 4 adults and 2 kids to dinner. We went, ate, drank, and the bill came. His dad and stepmom just ignored the bill. Finally Hubby picked it up and handed the waiter our Amex to pay for it. Was almost $1k for the 6 adults and 2 kids. They never offered to pay so we went back to the condo and turned the air conditioner on stun and opened up all the doors and windows. Left it that way all weekend. It was 113 degrees. Lol

Fogo de Chao, is a unique experience, indeed.. If you are asking me from a restauranteur perspective, I can tell you they are clever as hell.. Their total menu added features are vast, tasty, but inexpensive, and easily prepared.. Laid out to appear extreme, and colorful, but limited by cost, and filler..
Now, ask me as a consumer, I truly enjoyed it! They are a bit overpriced, because their dining psychology is to fill you before the major expensive items, the meat courses, still the least expensive selections, but quality enough, is offered.. 3 stars.. :)
That’s why I barely touch the salad bar and prefer to go for lunch during the week.
I am a hardcore Disney girl, and the next time I go there, I want to do the Chef’s table. What would your wife recommend in addition to that? I ate at Boma, Jiko, and the Morocco restaurant in Epcot last time.
Ever hear of Goldschlager? Clear alcohol with gold in it. Yummy.

She is particularly fond of Narcoosees, Le cellier in Epcot, and ‘Ohana in the Polynesian. We have also eaten at Shula’ s but think it way overpriced. Reservations are six months out so plan accordingly.
I know my youngest daughter still has the menu on her bulletin board. I should post it.
