This thread is non-political, although you will find that most here are conservative folks. No matter what, you won’t be flamed and the only dumb question is the one that isn’t asked. It is impossible to hijack the Weekly Gardening Thread. There is no telling where it will go and... that is part of the fun and interest. Jump in and join us!

NOTE: This is a once a week ping list. We do post to the thread during the week. Links to related articles and discussions which might be of interest are welcomed, so feel free to post them at any time.

:-D GMTA!

Our Christmas tree isn’t even that good....it’s an artificial one that is about a foot tall, pre lighted, and just right for our living room and Christmas presents! (Trust me, we can get a lot of them around/under it!) Not a lot of fuss which suits me just fine!

He and my Mom had six kids, but I am the only one who looks like him. He was about 35% MiQMaw Indian. You can really see it in this picture.

Policies have a list of covered perils, fire, theft, etc, if it is not on that list, there is no coverage. After determining if there is coverage, they list what is covered and not covered. Coverages change with time. They will mail you updates(changes) to your policy from time to time. Never assume anything with insurance coverage. Most major companies, Allstate St Farm, Farmers, etc have one policy that they sell in each state, just fill in the numbers, and remains fairly consistant from state to state. But some smaller companies may sell 30 different policies. All damage to your property is not covered by your HO policy. You will be shocked what is not covered.

As soon as I finish thawing out from a parts run, I’ll head downstairs, and start repairing the water heater. Coldest day of the year: does it ever fail?

*******************************************
Murphy’s Law comes to mind. We are at 18 degrees and heading to 3 degrees, so I quess we are better off than you. Still, I agree, it’s a bit early, and icey seems like an omen of a hard winter.

I still remember the fall/winter that had great sorta warm days up until Christmas. Of course, in Missouri we have also have plenty of snowstorms before Thanksgiving. So it could have been worse. Que Sera Sera.

Hubby brought in a seed catalog yesterday, and he asked isn’t it a little soon to be getting these. I guess the seed companies have the same problem as the retailers - a need to beef up sales for the current year.

Yes, it was insured for $10,000 more than the loan so that their down payment for the loan was covered too. They should be at the starting point. The trailer was not covered.

The adjuster was out looking and said he had to send some other guy in too, but she didn’t understand what the deal was, and couldn’t remember exactly what she told him.

Yes, we are all grateful that everyone is ok. Also, since many of their pictures of the kids are on line, they’ll still have some of the baby pics etc.

I have no idea what sort of battery it was. Her father in law was the one that told me that’s what he thought. The fire department apparently was not sure what started it.

I have a small tree that is decorated already that I usually bring out and put on the coffee table. Also a ceramic one that I use for the coffee table - it uses a small night light kinda bulb.

I am thinking of buying a small rosemary tree that has been trimmed to look like a Christmas tree, if they have any this year. It could sit in the kitchen next to the grow lights, and that rosemary scent would be so good in the kitchen.

When it comes to insurance, I doubt if I would be shocked. More than 20 years in Finance and Banking, as well as having been a licensed insurance agent has left me a bit cynical.

Try adding about 1/4 cup of powdered baking cocoa to your chili, along with the other spices. WOW! Does it ever make it rich, spicy, and hearty.

Sounds like Cincinnati chili, which also contains cinnamon.

I don’t care for Cinci Chili. The cinnamon and noodles are a real killer for me.

HEB, our grocery store, had Christmas tree shaped rosemary trees about a foot tall last year. Not sure why my wife didn’t buy one as much as she likes rosemary.

IIRC, a fire claim requires a report from the Fire dept, but I cant remember the name of the report.

This is Saturday, 8 am and it's 35 degrees - no rain, no snow. I think if it froze last night, that 32 wouldn't have lasted long since it was 40 at 11 pm.

You said, “I have a small tree that is decorated already that I usually bring out and put on the coffee table.”

I always use a little artificial white tree with fiber optic ends on the limbs so when plugged in it changes color all the time, but that tree is in a closet and the Lantana plant was just walk out there, pick it up, bring it in and set it on the coffee table.

I guess the Lantana likes the temp inside because it has more blooms today than it did yesterday. I didn't know anything about flower plants when I went to Lowes and told the very knowledgeable woman (who didn't laugh at my not know jack about flowers), I wanted a flower plant that was a perennial so I could plant it once and not have to plant new ones, that attracted butterflies and hummingbirds. She went to the Lantana and there were many colors with butterflies around them right then so I got the one that had pink/white/yellow mixture flowers. I think I will get some more of that plant since it seems to bloom all the time and grows to large fairly quickly.

That's a good idea to buy a Rosemary “tree” trimmed to look like a Christmas tree. If it were not so cold I'd see if Lowes has one and it could go on a pink/white marble topped coffee table I have. The Lantana is on a black marble topped coffee table.

Next time you go to HEB, please see if they have those rosemary trees this year and I’ll get one.

19F, and it's not supposed to get above 28F today.

I'm ready for spring.

You know that February is our coldest month, usually a freeze for a few days, and this is December. Maybe January will be warmer so you can thaw out before February.
