Police submitted a report on July 16 stating officers werent sent to check on Matthew Cline because... there was little likelihood that they would be able to generate any revenue.

Or shoot any dogs, or drive their MRAP into their home, or shoot a grandmother in her bed and plant drugs, or beat the snot out of a homeless man, or riddle a car with bullets.

Well at least the officers went home safe.

If, as the courts have found, the police are under no obligation to protect you from others, why should anyone expect them to protect you from yourself?
To: Pearls Before Swine
Yes, I was going to mention this - it’s already been a matter of precedent that the police are under no obligation to protect you.

I was about to write the same thing.
However, suicide is a stupid and selfish choice. This kid made the choice. I'm sick of others getting blamed for suicides.

Well the page didn’t load and the excerpt had nothing to do with the title, but based on the title I’d say Baloney.
Sorry the mom lost her son and all. But to sue the cops is ludicrous.

“Police submitted a report on July 16 stating officers werent sent to check on Matthew Cline because they had two addresses on file for that name.”
And we know that it simply IMPOSSIBLE to check both addresses.

They assured Ana they would take it from there and that she neednt do anything further.****************************

Its all good.
At least for the dog.

It seems beyond belief that the police did not check both addresses. Just TWO addresses! On the surface it seems they are guilty of non-performance of their duty.

That does seem to be the onus on the police, IMO.

If, as the courts have found, the police are under no obligation to protect you from others, why should anyone expect them to protect you from yourself? That, of course, is the legally informed, real world Rule of Law correct question.
Unfortunately, this occurred in Bizarro World America where Constitutional Rule of Law is fantasy.

If they didn't shoot the boy themselves. That has happened several times when a family member called to cops to prevent a suicide.

If there were a mention of drugs or dogs at either address you can be sure they'd have shown up at both addresses...outfitted for a full on live fire action.
