Not content with next-day delivery service through its Prime program, Amazon wants orders to land on peoples front porches in as little as half an hour.
Just when you thought the technology industry couldnt get any stranger, the latest idea from the retail giant is to offer an audacious delivery-by-drone service.

We should get married. I am entirely too joyful and happy.
No, Gen-Av Nightmare, we need details how Gen-Av can co-exist with this.
I think this is a reality, not fantasy. With replaceable power packs these things could go all day long with a bevy of power packs being recharged. As Li-Ion power densities increase, so will the reduction in recharging and or range.
Actually Amazon's retail operation is quite profitable. They just reinvest/spend a lot in expansion. A pretty good explanation here:

I watched the interview. He says he expects to work out rules with FAA by 2015 and then a few years after that attempt the effort. He said 10 miles from distribution center is maximum and a weight limit of 3 or 4 pounds. He says that covers 87% of their sales. He wouldn’t share any other efforts so I really didn’t see any hype. They showed working versions of the platform and said one of the limiting factors was redundancy requirements for FAA and how not to come down on someone’s head. [Or fall through the roof of your local pub and kill you as you’re drinking a cold one.]
Yeah, but will it put the package under the door mat?
I'm guessing the answer depends on how heavily it's armed, if you get my drift.
There was a dwarf joke to that effect...
Thank you for my first LMHORAOTFCS in a looooong time!
Lol!
It was on the news yesterday.
Target practice
Hackers sending them to who knows where
Killing birds and upsetting bees
Midair and landing crashes
Deliveries on the roof and and trees
With the current satellite and google/yahoo/etc maps, it'll be delivered a mile away
Another Big Brother spying resource
And who's going to take responsibility when that piano comes loose from it's bindings and falls to the highway killing a dozen people?
I'm guessing The Hill won't have to worry about such. Much like obamacare, they'll have the no-fly dome of safety.
Here's the brochure I give to new victims-
(High five to Ghost of SVR4 for the best response EVER to something I've written.)
There are neighborhoods where this wouldn’t work which leads one to wonder if Sharpton will come out of hiding with charges of racism.
Merry Christmas!

Never been in the military, have you?
Well see there you go. A drone cat to deliver and a Lab to retrieve. Obviously someone thought this system through, all the way to the goods being deposited at the customers' feet. Plus a few whiskers and clumps of fluff.
Is wee Bob warming up to come and play for Team Hillary in 2017?
Well, in accordance with the joke, he’d have to have both hands full and still ring the doorbell.
