Not content with next-day delivery service through its Prime program, Amazon wants orders to land on peoples front porches in as little as half an hour.
Just when you thought the technology industry couldnt get any stranger, the latest idea from the retail giant is to offer an audacious delivery-by-drone service.

Air Traffic Control nightmare These drones fly at treetop level, below air traffic control (unless you are really close to an airport).
Try making this video from a Cessna: http://vimeo.com/78370957

The reason it was the first thing I thought of is that I am in the market for one. My mom and her sister play, I used to but want to get back into it, and I’d love for the kids to give it a shot.
I looked into renting own, but it seems like buying one is a better deal. The place I went to even buys them back.

If I were a kid and spotted one of those in my neighborhood, I would follow it and jump on it when it landed.
Each delvery would be a suicide mission — Kamikaze drones.

The FAA. And they listed quite a few limitations: within 10 miles of a distribution center, so probably only major metro areas, and only small items (no pianos, or kayaks is the example they used).
He said they also have programming still to work on, such as ensuring they don’t hit people, etc.

To: Vendome
What did you think of their distribution center?

    Pretty impressive.
I was still awed that they haven’t turned a profit since day one and investors still keep betting on them.

Rain is an issue, eh? Wouldn't be prudent for Houston, then.
But...if it does make it to its destination, can we keep the drone?
