POLAND - It was one of those nights for 56-year-old Marek Michalski. One of those nights when "one more" seemed like a good idea - but wasn't. He was found passed out on a bench in Piotrkow, Poland without a pulse. Concerned citizens called an ambulance and he was whisked away.

Fade to Black: Fade in: It's hours later. It's dark. It's quiet...

I’m thinking about the Seinfeld episode where Kramer’s girlfriend had him thrown in the river when she though he was dead, but was just passed out from exhaustion.

One of our neighbor’s fraternity brothers pulled a big one one night. He woke up naked in a strange bed and didn’t have a clue where he was. He donned a big flowered bathrobe he found on the back of the bedroom door and walked out of the room. There was a black family sitting around their dining room table, eating breakfast. The father said, “We were wondering when you would wake up.” Apparently, the frat brother was found in the back seat of their car and they took him home to look after him and make sure he was safe.

They should have had a wake for him like in the old days when people got drunk and since they were using vessels made with lead, passed out as if dead. Thus the tradition of holding a wake to see if the stiff would awaken. Getting stiffed, a term for getting stone cold drunk.

Friend of mine told that once him and another kid got so bleepfaced that they didn’t dare go home. So they sat back in a doorway down the street. The other kid must have rolled back out on the sidewalk. He woke up when he realized the cops were drawing a chalk outline around him.

Guess that beats mine; waking up flat on my back with one leg still in the truck and kids playing in the front yard. Not to mention the wife had locked all the house doors, no snese of humor I reckon.

What’s the Elk’s eleventh hour toast, To our absent fathers, who are here getting drunk, instead of home sober with their families.

Woke up in the back yard all covered with dew and two cats sleeping on me.

That is one of the best stories (and posts!) I have ever come across.

What a great kind family, no? And the guy’s complete (flowered) humiliation...ha!

In the late 1970s I woke up in my underwear on a backyard picnic table with about an inch on snow on me. I banged on a window of the house and my buddy opened the window and said;"we were wondering what happened to you!" Needless to say those days have been long gone.

I laughed for days. The guy that told the story is funny as hell anyway but, I was especially tickled thinking that the guy was thinking he had gotten lucky while he was donning the flowered bathrobe. That family not only took him into their home and made sure he was safe, they treated him like family. They fed him a huge breakfast too. His night could have had deadly consequences - he is lucky God sent him to that family.

Great story.

Got blotto one night in New Orleans with my boss in the French Quarter while attending a convention. Hurricane dacquiris!

Extremely vague memories of wandering the streets and having extended and probably incoherent discussions on serious topics with strangers. Gradually woke up as daylight came in, still walking around in my suit.

Given the proximity of the French Quarter to the projects, I was extremely lucky nothing bad happened to me. Aside from tearing my suit in a couple of places.

I hope he did something to repay the family’s kindness.
