They should have had a wake for him like in the old days when people got drunk and since they were using vessels made with lead, passed out as if dead. Thus the tradition of holding a wake to see if the stiff would awaken. Getting stiffed, a term for getting stone cold drunk.

In the late 1970s I woke up in my underwear on a backyard picnic table with about an inch on snow on me. I banged on a window of the house and my buddy opened the window and said;"we were wondering what happened to you!" Needless to say those days have been long gone.
