Free Republic | November 1, 2013 | greeneyes

Posted on 11/01/2013 12:11:04 PM PDT by greeneyes

The Weekly Gardening Thread is a weekly gathering of folks that love soil, seeds and plants of all kinds. From complete newbies that are looking to start that first potted plant, to gardeners with some acreage, to Master Gardener level and beyond, we would love to hear from you. This thread is non-political, although you will find that most here are conservative folks. No matter what, you won’t be flamed and the only dumb question is the one that isn’t asked. It is impossible to hijack the Weekly Gardening Thread. There is no telling where it will go and... that is part of the fun and interest. Jump in and join us!

NOTE: This is a once a week ping list. We do post to the thread during the week. Links to related articles and discussions which might be of interest are welcomed, so feel free to post them at any time.

—There are numerous specialty doctors in this group.—

I noticed that. That was the newest big thing where we came from, a group of various specialty drs. together like a one stop, all-in-one medical center in one office.

See my post #172. I have been going to him since early 2012 after Dr. Wilkerson gave me his name. He doesn’t rush you out. I go with a printed list of my medicines and a list of printed reasons why I am there. I give the medicine list to the nurse and she deals with getting it on their records if anything has changed since the last time.

I hand the doctor the list of why I am there and we deal with the list. That way I don’t forget something I was going to discuss and the list keeps him on point to write new prescriptions if required.

On your medicine list at the top, list your pharmacy and their phone number. He sends the pharmacy prescriptions right then from his computer as he is recording them.

I had a separate printed list of which prescriptions I had no refills for and those with only one refill left. That way, he knew which ones to send right then.

If you go with those lists, you get to talk longer about what’s wrong rather than spend time “telling” about your medicines - it’s all on those sheets.

Hey, it’s Friday, finally. My wonderful wife will be here for two full days after today, a new garden thread, two days with Gracie, and two nice days so I can make sawdust.

“Hey, it’s Friday, finally. My wonderful wife will be here for two full days after today, a new garden thread, two days with Gracie, and two nice days so I can make sawdust.”

I think you and I probably need a life as both you and I look forward to a new garden thread every Friday. That is our excitement for the week? Yes, we need a life.

You do have a wonderful wife. I hope you have a great time with her and that you make lots of sawdust. The dolly you made for my squash plant has helped me move that plant over and over.

It gives me great joy to be able to do something to help someone else.

I like the inter-action of the garden thread, and thats what I like about Youtube also. They both get me out of the house, so to speak.

I’ve got a small project in the shop making a workbench for mounting a saw that I bought a couple of weeks ago. When finished, I will be able to cut curves in wood, like S curves and circles and such. No more straight cuts only. Thinking of making an old school rounded mantel clock, but will decide that later.

LOL. How well I know that feeling. Used to be that way when Red_Devil was doing the thread. Every Thursday night, I’d think Yahoo garden thread tomorrow.

Still feel that way, thinking and wondering who will check in and what have they been doing. Especially look forward to colorful posts like yours Marcella.

I think it’s just a great opportunity to get out of the chatter box noise that goes on constantly and think about more simple stuff. A chance to forget about my impossible To Do list, and focus on friendly conversation for a while.

I got my project done and my new saw mounted and ready for a test.

Search for bandsaw boxes on your search engine “images” to see pictures of what some craftsman/artist turn out with this kind of saw.

Mine will be beginner level, though.

Okay, knock on wood for me, I’m going to skin the greenhouse with my 6 mil plastic, using file folder pieces as gaskets, and my new power stapler to do the job. I am terrified of messing it up..especially with the freeze, maybe snow coming.

You know you’ve gone off the deep end when you worry about your tomatoes as if they’re your kids or pets.

I do the same thing. When you don’t have a huge number of plants, every one is “special”. I can’t let Mr. Stevia freeze, or my squash plant, or my strawberries.

Finally got it skinned. Still need to do the furring strips tomorrow. Hope it survives the weather that's on it's way. I've decided cattle panels, and my compound miter saw are my new favorite things.
