Those that were chosen to defend America, upon retirement, need a family to love. The military has a great adoption program for their military dogs. American Thinker had the privilege to interview Shane Larsen, who is the military working dog adoptions coordinator. He is a former Air Force staff sergeant who was an instructor and trainer at the Lackland Canine School as well as a former handler.
The adoption program originated in November 2000 as a result of the "Robby Law," preventing the euthanization of four-legged warriors. Robby, a Belgian Malinois dog was euthanized even though his handler made every effort to adopt him. Although this law did not save Robby, it specifies that the military dog can and should be adopted. Those first in line are any of the former handlers, next in line are law enforcement agencies, and finally qualified families.

Libs have not one ounce of patriotism or love of country; these military dogs do. Huge difference, IMO.

Wow...that is an interesting (sad and disturbing, too) commentary on the nation.
Agreed, though, the adoption process for these warriors is a wonderful program and a fitting close to their lives of service.
Don’t forget intelligent.
Thank you!
Maybe people having 10 dogs that they don't take care of and they run wild in the neighborhood is what brought this on.
Mine are house dogs and my back yard is big and fenced, my dogs don't bother anyone, I see to it.
Once this program was braodcast to the public these dogs were adopted and few were put down.
Perrin AFB was in North Texas by the OK border. Once adoptions began thes dowgs were relocated to OK, Kansas, Louisiana, and New Mexico.
My neighbor adopted Missy and she became the host of the block. He had four boys aged 8 6 and twins of 4. They were right out of the TV program "Please Don't Eat the Daiseys." The humorous event cccured one Saturday when my Chihuahua go out and started chasing Missy. There was my 7 lb dog Tiffany chasing the 106 lb guad dog Missy! Soon the roles were reversed and the whole neigborhood was enjoying the action. Finally Mike ended the chase by ordering Missy t "heal". When Missy Healed Tigffny went to her and then touched noses and the crowd cheered!
Great post.
