Two boys playing on a girls volleyball team at a New York high school could see their playing time spiked when league officials consider modifying a rule that allows them to play with the fairer sex.
Seniors Andrew Lafortezza and Jason Elbaum both played for the co-ed volleyball club last season at Horace Greeley High School in Chappaqua. But due to budgetary constraints, the Quakers were unable to field a boys team this year, prompting the teens to seek a spot on the girls squad, which they earned after receiving approval from league officials in August.
...
Kim Cleary, the boys volleyball coach at Suffern High School, took issue with Kuczmas characterization that the boys do not dominate play. In 2007, she was an assistant coach on a girls team that played against another team with a boy on its roster and the result wasnt favorable for Cleary.
Having coached both boys and girls and being around this sport for 20 years, I can attest that it absolutely makes a difference, she told FoxNews.com. Even if theyre not hitting at the front, theyre blocking at the front of the net. Theres absolutely no reason Horace Greeley couldnt have formed a team and been part of our league. Those two boys are taking two spots from two girls.

I personally agree that boys are bigger and stronger than girls and having them compete with girls is unfair.
However, if our nation has decided that women are big and strong enough to fight against enemy males, in combat, then they certainly should have no problem facing males on the volleyball court.
Isn't that equality?
If these boys get bounced, will they sue? In today’s gender equality world (especially at skrewls) we are taught there must be NO distinction between the sexes.
The boys could just “gender identify” as girls for the time they are participating in sports.
Did you notice in the article the part that says the girls regulation hoop is one foot lower than the boys?
They should be made to reap what they sow - for ‘fairness’ sake.
Well, there's no distinction between the sexes, unless there's a distinction. In that case, the issue is settled in such a way as to favor any female that is within 1000 miles of the location of the problem.
Yes, it is unfair. Girls are simply not as strong as boys. In sports, you 'play up' if you can compete at a higher level. Playing down is lame.
But liberals either (falsely) profess to not understand the questions and logic or simply refuse to answer the questions. Because they're really not interested in some sort of fair society. They're only interested in pushing "rights" for favored groups.
Apparently, there IS a problem, not that the feminists want us to notice. The article points out not only the lower hoop height regulation for girls, but also that boys play harder and more intensely than the girls, so get more play -and thereby not allowing some of the girls to get as much time off the bench. Unfair!
The best thing about woman's volleyball are those tight shorts. Only fag boys would want to wear them, and nobody wants to see that.
Of course. That would be why in coed sports in our educational establishments we were always told to "go easy" on the girls, and "give them a chance to score".
Couldn't knock them down because they might get hurt, and couldn't outscore them too badly (if we were allowed to win) because it would make them feel bad.
With a hoop one foot lower to make it fairer for them.
Crikey! THAT's 'playing up', alrighty!
You obviously never played ball in the seventies, mate.
If the school had dropped the girls sports instead, not only would the feminists be yowling about how "unfair" and "sexist" such a decision was, they would also be demanding that the girls be given spots on the boys teams so that they could be allowed to play as well. Never mind that it would have taken spots away from more qualified boys on the teams.
Apparently some people have no problem with this concept...
Yes, but the school here had enough money to field a girls volleyball team, but not enough money to field a boys volleyball team. What's the deal with that?
So in this case the boys did the only reasonable thing. They wanted to play volleyball, so they joined the only team available.
What, in your opinion, action should have these boys have taken, if any?
Hmmm. Guess I never realized that I had taken an arrow through the knee all those years ago. We had to “play down” always when the girls were playing. Never considered that we had to take that arrow to become ‘lame’ enough to play them.
Love the “highlights” ESPN show of the WNBA finals, most of the fans come dressed as empty seats, but hey,we are all really excited to see those highlights!
