Playing down is lame.

Yes, but the school here had enough money to field a girls volleyball team, but not enough money to field a boys volleyball team. What's the deal with that?

So in this case the boys did the only reasonable thing. They wanted to play volleyball, so they joined the only team available.

does the school have football?...wrestling?....Title nine only says that the expenses of sports have to be somewhat equal, not that every sport has to be offered to everybody...

There are lots of club teams everywhere. The Y has teams. There are many options instead of playing on the girls team.

Maybe the school's putting too much cash into the boys football program, the boy's basketball program and the boy's baseball program while totally ignoring the girls football team and the girls baseball team........

As a side note, maybe the hidden story here is the fact that there weren't enough boys interested in playing on an all male volleyball team in the first place.........

The two boys in question were reported to have played on a "CO-ED" team, NOT an all boys team..............
