RENTON, Wash. (CBS Seattle/AP) The Seattle Seahawks announced that the organization has hired undercover cops to wear San Francisco 49ers gear and patrol Sundays game in order to curb unruly behavior.
We have great fans, said Seahawks president Peter McLoughlin. Our goal is to ensure a safe environment for all in attendance, including visiting team fans.
The Seahawks announced Wednesday they will have the undercover police officers wearing opposing team apparel

Sounds like a good way to get your ass beat, police officer or not.
It’ like Pros vs Joes. The cops are professional asskickers, my money’s on them.
Maybe in saint Louis or Memphis. I’m not so sure about Seattle..
Seahawks fans are not like neanderthal fans of other clubs. We are proud of our Hawks and don’t want to cast a bad image on the Hawks.
Agreed, unless the other team’s fans gang up on them. That would be my concern. For their sake I hope they have a good, coordinated strategy for help from fellow officers.
PS - The Ultimate Superbowl: Philly vs Oakland
Just what is it they are supposed to do? Go around and incite the Seahawks fans to get them arrested?...........
Yeah, they don’t need any help............
Nah, Chicago vs Oakland or Detroit...............
After a few unruly fans get shot, perhaps the rest will start behaving.
Oakland VS Detroit !
those Oakland Raider “fans” the ones who never attend a game but have all the “Bling” will riot at the drop of ANYTHING.
Im certain there are probably the same type in Detroit.
If we could arrange the game...get them tickets....and the let the “disguised cops loose in the place .....s/
I’ve seen Hawk fans stop an altercation brought about by an opposing team fan. A couple of 49er fans started in on a group and people just got them separated. Wasn’t any need for security to show up but they did. All ended well.
Certainly the majority of Seahawks fans are great. However, I’ve seen ridiculous behavior too many times.
Most cops have a chip on their shoulders, so this may be a good outlet while also avoiding police brutality charges.
Give them fifteen yards for taunting and pitch them from the stadium.
I last went to a Seahawks game about three years ago, and I saw one brief fight. (Of course I couldn’t see everything going on in the stadium.) So this police action might be an overreaction, although Seahawk fans DO detest SF coach Jim Harbaugh.
If the cops want to wear the uniform of the team that’s GONNA LOSE this weekend, that’s their choice.
Go Seahawks!!
Raiders at Chargers always produces fights, stabbings, heart attacks, and Life Flight landing in the parking lot. Stealth Oakland thugs come to the stadium once each year to terrorize mostly well-behaved San Diego fans.
This is one huge area where I just can’t understand sports fans. How can one have such a weak mind and fragile ego so as to commit violence against a fan of another team, in a sport in which one has no hope whatsoever of competing personally.
