It seems like a fifth, maybe a quarter, of the websites I've tried to go to today have been down. I get "This page can't be displayed."
I've tried different browsers. I've tried on my PC, the PC in our den and one of the kids' laptops and it seems to be a problem on all of them.
I’m in Los Angeles. No problems for me today. Contacted your ISP?
I can’t tell you about possible widespread Internet problems cause I’m not in the profession.
However...
For the last several years in mid to last part of August, I’ve noticed slower responses to link clicks. I attribute this to schools all over world starting new session, academics thus clogging the Internet.
Anybody have alternate theories?
Saw a report last night that the ‘internet’ is under siege from our enemies. There is a cyber war going on besides the Syria mess.
I haven’t yet. But if it isn’t something that other people have been having a problem with I’m going to.
Complain to NSA.
It’s just the NSA. Nothing to see here ... move along.
Anybody have alternate theories?
When the juvenile delinquents are back in school things will speed up.
I stopped using the internet a long time ago. Too slow. I switched to the interwebs. |
If you want off my ping list get over it!
This is a normal side effect of attracting enough NSA attention to get yourself on the “double-secret” watch list.
When you’ve been elevated to double-secret (”DS”) status, extra real-time analysis and verification of your online activities take significantly more bandwidth and slow your online activities way down.
But you don’t have anything to worry about if you’ve done nothing wrong. In one to five years you’ll automatically drop off the list.
Internet traffic and congestion varies. You’ll notice it most often when it affects your own provider, whoever that is. It can also be a problem with the name servers at your provider. If they are malfunctioning or just getting hammered with requests, that’ll bring you to a crawl.
Here is a good check, to find out if a site is down on its side, or yours.

Are you sure that you're logged in?
Shucks, I am paranoid. Any time this happens to me, I figure the gov. is after me.
Could also be he reached the end of the internet.
My connections have been sporadic for the last 3 days.
It seems worse around mid-morning and noon.
I have rebooted the computer several times.
I thought it was my cable company. Sometimes they do maintance, etc., early mornings.
More likely your internet service provider.
Ive been having trouble at different times of the day and evenings for the past week on 2 computers. Im blaming lousy DSL service and am looking into cable. Sometimes things work great, sometimes I have to struggle, and other times I cant access anything and just shut down.
At this moment and most of today, Ive been fighting to access everything by hitting try again, reloading pages, cleaning system, rebooting computers and modem,,,,
Seems to be worst for me from 06:00 PM EST until midnight.
