Those That Are Not Preparing (Shortened)

The next great economic crisis is rapidly approaching, and most people are going to be totally blindsided by it. Even though the warning signs areglaringly obvious, most Americans continue to believe that our “leaders” know what they are doing and that everything will be just fine. But what will happen when the next great financial crash happens and trillions of dollars of “paper wealth” disappear into thin air? What will happen when the coming credit crunch causes economic activity to dramatically slow down and millions upon millions of people lose their jobs? This shouldn’t sound far-fetched to you. Remember, this is exactly the kind of thing that we saw back in 2008, and the next great financial crisis is likely going to be significantly worse. Our economy is in far worse shape than it was back in 2008, and government dependence is now at an all-time high even though most Americans are still enjoying debt-fueled false prosperity. We are living in the largest debt bubble in the history of the planet, and when it bursts we are going to experience a crippling “adjustment” to our standard of living. Some people understand this and are busy preparing for what is ahead. It has been estimated that there are approximately 3 million ”preppers” in the United States, and that number is growing all the time. Unfortunately, most Americans are not preparing for the coming economic depression and they are going to bitterly regret it.

That’s simple—from the administration, it’d be a pamphlet—take it, it’s all yours!

My plan is contained within the obvious points I put forth.

You truly lack the capacity to grasp what I am suggesting is the more honorable and wiser course of action? Or are you merely being obtuse?

I don’t think we have anything to worry about until our taxes are about 60 percent (Federal only) and then they SERIOUSLY run out of money. When every American pays taxes....only about 51 percent pay federal taxes today. We are not near the trouble YET. It is good to prepare anyway but their is still a ton of people not providing to the United States yet.

Before it gets there more and more people will get very inventive over avoiding taxes. Look at every economic collapse, all of them raise taxes but they always end up with less and less money collected and not all of it is because the taxes are actually starving the economy. A lot is because of the vast underground/black market excessive taxes bring on. Look at what’s happening in Southern Europe right now for an example.

Exactly a perfect reason to escape the tyranny ridden USA...at least in a tropical 3rd world nation...you have a fighting chance with basic survival talents...growing, gaining, fishing, harvesting...unlike many, many areas of the USA...the only talents required now nd in the future will be seeking and stealing from the untalented horders until the “haves dry up and disappear”...

Had about 20 cans of spaghetti sauce that were WAY past expire date. In some cases, ten years!

So my project over the last couple days is to replace them... almost done!

Picked up about 30 lbs of other canned goods in the process.

And actually had spaghetti last nite, with home grown peppers, onions, and tomatoes I sauteed and added to the sauce. It was XLNT!!!!

Of course, they should just let the damned thing crash, and immediately restore constitutional government and sound money, so that most people, prepper and non-prepper alike, can swiftly get back on their feet without such a huge tax and regulatory burden in their way.

But they won’t.

I'm not sure I know what you mean exactly. Please clarify if I get this wrong:

1. Do you mean there will be numerous groups fighting each other and each one of those groups will take what regular people have stored?

2. Do you mean if you don't join one of these militant groups, you will be killed?

3. Do you mean anyone living in an underground shelter will be found by penetrating radar owned by one of these militant groups?

4. Do you mean if you live by yourself, you will be killed for sure? Does this mean not one single person, even women, will live if they live alone? ----------------------------

You said: 1. if you have supplies of any kind, competing military forces will want them. 2. If you are not part of and with a military there will be zero chance you will survive an attempt to resist one. 3. Ground penetrating radar will locate any underground facility with no problem. Most military forces will field these. 4. Going it alone only works if there is a scriptwriter making that happen.

I think the turning point for me feeling okay about my preps was when I figured out the power problem so I would have power for a few years whether or not the grid was working. I already had other preps.

We are approaching the worst time for hurricanes and that is September. I definitely will have power and a working phone and a working TV and radio and water and food, fans, etc., etc. As long as my house is still standing, I’m good.

1. Not every faction necessarily, but many factions. Read Sun Tsu, or study the use of the control of food during war. Hell, study the second Boer War. Or wars in Liberia during the 1980s. Some things are timeless.

2. If they have the resources, they might put you in a camp instead. They might also merely remove your hoarded or heard grown resources from you. They damned sure will not just assume you are not feeding or providing water to another faction.

3. Pretty much a given.

4. Again, people will not necessarily all be exterminated just for the sake of doing so, but you seem to have this cockamamie idea that every group out there would be commanded by a leadership entirely devoid of a classic military education. It is mind bogglingly foolish to put ones hope on that.

“...but you seem to have this cockamamie idea that every group out there would be commanded by a leadership entirely devoid of a classic military education. It is mind bogglingly foolish to put ones hope on that.”

I couldn't have such a “cockamamie idea” because I have not considered exactly what you are describing. From what you just said, you think these groups will be led by men who have a “classic military education”.

I think most people are more frightened by the idea of roaming bands of men who have very little and must raid to have water and food. Certainly, people believe those in the inner cities will raid stores and people to get water and food fairly quickly. Maybe the groups you suggest will happen later than these first scavenger loosely knit groups.

If an emergency lasted a long time, I can see more organized groups trying to bring some order to the chaos. I don't know if they would be military in concept or organized to bring order by elections to try to right civilization again.

I'd like to treat wounds and illness of any person who needs that and I geared up medical supplies to do that. If there was a “good” group and a “bad” group, I'd throw in with the “good” group and do what I could to keep people well. Would they kill me because I am a single person living by myself? I don't think so - I think they would rather have a skilled medical person alive. However, it depends on whether or not they found my hidey hole to start with.

I think the turning point for me feeling okay about my preps was when I figured out the power problem so I would have power for a few years whether or not the grid was working. I already had other preps.

We've been having mountain storms this week and one result of lightening was a 24-hour power outage. I'm used to those in the winter and actually rather enjoy the closed-in cozy feeling of a fire, oil lamps, and a winter storm outside. Having one in the summer through me for a loop though!

I got out all my lighting paraphenalia - oil lamps, flashlights, headlamps - I really like those, 100 hour candles, and practiced living that way. It's amazing how much of a habit having electricity is! I'd go into a room and immediately reach for the light switch. Or go to feed my cats and go to use the microwave to heat their food.

I think it's a great idea to go 24 hours or more every few months, just to see. One thing I learned is I will be buying a lot more head lamps. They are so much more functional than any other lighting source I had. You can do things hands-free and focus the light where you need it. The one I have has 3 options - a direct-focus light, a spot light, and a night-vision light. I didn't use the latter.

Do you believe in providing for your family?

So these vast organized militias won’t have anything better to do then canvas the country with their ground penetrating radar? All while other organized militias are shooting at them, while using their own ground penetrating radars?
