Always An Upgrade

August 18, 2013

When I’m about to leave the house, sometimes my wife, Martie, stops me and says, “You can’t go to the office dressed like that!” It’s usually something about the tie not matching the jacket or the color of the slacks being out of sync with the sportcoat. Though being questioned about my fashion choices may feel like an affront to my good taste, I have realized that her correcting influence is always an upgrade.

Scripture often calls us to “put on” attitudes and actions that match our identity in Christ. Sometimes we are known by the clothes we wear, but we can make Jesus known by wearing attitudes and actions that reveal His presence in our lives. The apostle Paul advised us to set the fashion standard by modeling the wardrobe of Jesus’ compassion, kindness, humility, meekness, patience, and forgiveness (Col. 3:12). And, he added, “above all these things put on love . . . . And let the peace of God rule in your hearts” (vv.14-15).

Clothing ourselves in Jesus’ likeness begins with spending time with Him. If you hear Him say, “You can’t go out like that!” let Him lovingly take you back to the closet so He can clothe you with His likeness. It’s always an upgrade!

Lord, help us to see ourselves the way You see us. By
Your Spirit teach us to adorn our lives with the
attitudes and actions You have designed for us as a
public statement about our identity with You.
Clothing ourselves with Jesus’ attitudes and actions shows His presence in our lives.

Read: Colossians 3:12-17

Put on tender mercies, kindness, humility, meekness, longsuffering; . . . but above all these things put on love. —Colossians 3:12,14
Bible in a Year:
Psalms 100-102; 1 Corinthians 1

To: MEG33; FRiends; everyone

Meg and FRiends, I am having computer problems this morning and its already made me nervous.

Plus, my stove burners were giving me trouble and Greg came by on his way to the campground to see if my burners were safe. The one that was giving trouble, he took the on-off switch off so I wouldn’t use it accidentally. The big car races are in town and he works down at the campground (where the travelers come in and set up their little trailers, tents, etc. for the races.) He loves to be in that mess with a friend of his and I would hate it.....LOL! Anyway, he is sending a guy by here tomorrow to put a new switch on one burner. I can’t stand electrical stuff not working right as I’m afraid of fire or something. Praise God from whom all blessings flow, today in the name of my son. He didn’t want me to be here worrying myself to death over that broken burner switch.

Back is already hurting (nerves) so I’m not going to be on the computer much at all. I need to just rest and maybe lie down some and keep my nerves calm. I’ll try to read some posts occasionally.

Have a wonderful day, everybody! (((HUGS))) LOVE YA’LL!!

Here's a money saving tip that works. Some dark chocolate coating fell off my ice cream bar unbeknowst to me. When I spotted it later on my off-white wall-to-wall carpeting it was all smooshed into the shag.

Voila! I got out my $1 can of Barbasol shaving cream bomb that I bought from Dollar Tree....and sprayed some creamy foam on the biggish spot.

Fifteen minutes later, with my little kitchen brush and a dish of water, I scrubbed the spot lightly but thoroughly. Then I used a number of paper towels to rub in and around, absorbing the chocolate....then some more paper towels to absorb the wetness. Later, when the area was dry, no discoloration was visible at all.

In a nutshell, why pay the high cost of rug-shampoo cans at the supermarket? Try Barbasol, a medium-sized dab'll do ya for everyday stains.

Oh, so sorry to hear about the burners on your range! Is there anyway you can just use the microwave, until it is fixed? That would be much safer for you, don’t you think?

I dread the thought of no power, and always have chopped wood, a screened in outdoor fireplace, grills, charcoal and old pans - just in case I need them.

Regarding the race today - is Tony Steward going to be racing? I know he was in a pretty bad accident, and broke his leg (I think), not too long ago.

(I never admired him much, after he abandoned #20. It just didn’t ever seem to work for me after that.)
