Team version of “Legless” about to begin on ESPN 3!
Thanks for the heads up!
This is crazy. The women just can’t get it done. I’d be curious to know who Dave Castro’s guinea pig female was for this event. He was using Julie Foucher for a while.
Whoever it was, I bet she was damn good at legless rope climbs!
It takes serious upper body strength for those.
The chick that just made it all the way through was a BEAST.
Yep...impressive.
Alessandra Pichelli won the “Legless” event, and Christy Phillips came in second place. They were the only two women to finish the event!
Christy’s finish puts her in the number one spot overall by four points over Sam Briggs.
The men are up next. The guy to beat is Josh Bridges with a time of 6:07.
Josh Bridges held on to 1st place for “Legless.”
Froning came in 8th place, but Khalipa came in 27th place. Now, Froning has moved from 4th overall to 3rd.
1st place (408 points) Jason Khalipa
2nd place (395 points) Garret Fisher
3rd place (392 points) Rich Froning
It’s getting reeeeal tight in here!
Froning will get to first. He’s too solid all around.
NAUGHTY NANCY
8AM Pacific
Four Rounds for Time:
Run 600m up and over berm
25 Overhead Squats (140lb/95lb)
Time Cap: 20 Minutes
Sounds like a good way to blow chunks.
The run is about a 60-70 foot elevation change up and down stairs along with a portion of track. Plus only 100 OHS @ 140lb....anyone can do that, right? Right?
LOL, I would die.
That zig zag race finish was a photo finish ...... Do they get to select shoes for that event ? Looks like cleats , soccer or football shoes needed etc .... Lots of slips on that grass...
Crazy thing is crossfit is only what two, maybe two and a half years old ?
Does the little NASCAR pit crew babe Christmas Abbot compete in the games this year ? Can’t find her in the rosters.....
Grateful for the pings FSE !.
CrossFit has been around since the mid-90s, and the Games have been going on since 2007. Here is a good rundown.
Don't know about Christmas Abbot, but I just read yesterday that Danica Patrick is a CrossFitter!
Mid 90’s .... Was watching Grossman get the Eisenhower award for starting first gym in 2011 so am assuming the concept was way before the first real “gym” based on your comments.
Our PT when active duty was 100 yard sprints, push-ups, sprints, pull-ups, sprints, squat thrusts, sprints, crunches, do a 440 around the track then repeate the sets 3 more times. Then it was life cycle or rower at the base gym, then break all the nautilus equipment to work back, chest, legs and shoulders. Swim laps for 30 minutes to an hour to cool down and then go do free weights to either bulk up with heavy weight and low reps or tone with light weight and high reps.
End of the day was a six mile paratroop shuffle from our shop to the back gate and back to the shop, shower and home.
Each one of us had our own concept of carb loading, Weider supplements , hydration etc back then. Sports nutrition was not prevalent in the service so we “winged it “.....:o)
Endurance was our goal... Asics were the gold standard....:o)
Yeah, I don’t know what the 2011 thing was about.
Good Lord, when did you guys train?!
PT was 0720 to 1100 ...:o)
If we had a demolition event or deployment then a few of us were excused from PT that day. Training was after lunch till 3pm on a regular day. Training also involved equipment and property maintenance, house keeping etc .... Always a 2 man team on standby , rotated each week and if they went to PT they were covered by a sick lame or lazy tech or drove the alert truck and kept a radio or later in our career a cell phone aka the Motorola Brick while we PT’d....
There was always time for some jungle rules volleyball and a beer when the stolen ships bar bell was rung by the senior NCO on duty as well .... Oooooooh beer thirty !
Hope yer well got to run some errands today....:o). Will check in this evening !
Stay safe !
