OK, I put on some kid and stess pounds and need to lose it. The Slimfast diet always worked for me but now I am prediabetic and trying to lose metabolic syndrome weight.
I need a meal replacer, preferable a powder that works like Slimfast with much less carbs.
The ideal? Powder that blends with milk, low carb, medium protein and medium fat.
Anyone?

Thanks. I’m not one ounce overweight. Obesity isn’t a problem, but our family has an inheritable tendency to have wildly fluctuating blood sugar levels. I used to eat iike an animal but now I have to be very careful.

Before I got headaches all the time...ever since going to VLC, I dont get them anymore.
I originally did not believe all the claims when I began VLC and read Dr. Atkins' book. I was pleasantly surprised that a number of them were true and immediately obvious. Headaches were one, however the most immediate was the cessation of reflux issues and reduced allergy symptoms. Finally, many lipid issues resolved.
The most important were ultra high familial related triglyceride levels and very low HDLs. I went from over 600 to 60 for triglycerides and <25 to >40 for HDL. This pushed my ratio to below 2. It made perfect sense and forced me back (as an engineer) to review the Ancel Keys Lipid Theory. It was breathtaking to realize that the entire basis of this science was based on association only with billions spent to prove a conclusion based a faulty hypothesis.
Stalin was a piker compared to these people.

I know a guy who Lost about 10 lbs eating at a Red Lobster. The restaurant closed not long afterward. Food poisoning is a rough way to do it but it worked for him. He became a picky eater for about six months and lost another 20 lbs. I suggest skipping food poisoning part and do just the picky eater part. I lost about 20 lbs by just not eating if I didn’t feel hungry. It felt odd to leave food on my plate at first but if I felt full I quit eating. I also drank water though out the day. .

I used 2 apps to do what you see here: iRunner, to track my progress walking and LoseIt! to log my food intake. You can share info between the 2 apps, which makes it easier. It works and you can do it. FreepMail me if you have any questions (yes both apps are free)

Yup. The Paleo Diet is similar to Atkins even though based on a different premise.

Try Life’s Basics Protein Powders. It is plant based not soy or whey. I order mine from VitaCost. I especially like the Vanilla, the Greens and the Citrus one, hated the chocolate and I usually love chocolate. I make Smoothies with this with a cup of frozen berries, Blue or Straw or Combo of Blue, Rasp, and Black, a tablespoon of almond butter, a scoop of Chia Seeds and two tablespoons of Flax Seeds.
I fell off the exercise wagon last fall when I was having some serious inner ear dizziness issues and at that time needed to lose about 10-15 pounds, now I need to lose 20. Just back from a long vacation and some of those vacation pictures posted on my refrig should be good motivation. Will add in my Turbo Jam, Chalean Extreme and my daughters Insanity DVD’s as my fitness level allows and maybe some Jillian with the kettlebell although I have to substitute hand weights for a few as the kettlebell bruises my wrists something awful, the big high swings where it falls over onto my wrist, ouch.

It will never be off the books.
As you get older, it will become more important.
Get active, either walking or swimming will help.

I understand that, I meant that my levels will be within normal limits. My life will be about no carbs, more exercise. Actually not a bad life to lead.
Hell when planning food storage and prepper stuff.

I agree, I don't use them but recently tried diet gingerale for a taste treat. I found my self gaining weight on them and not because I have the diet soda means I can have fries mentality.
Good artisianal bread is my downfall.

I have been eating mostly the spinach and lettuce from my garden the past couple of weeks. And some lean protein.
Minimize refined sugar and carbs. Walk or bike as you can. And get good restful sleep.

I know what you mean about planning food storage and prepper stuff.
If you know how to
cold-pack can, it's not that hard with vegetables, but it takes lots of time.
And meat, or to
make jerky isn't that hard but it's a learned thing that takes practice.
Today's packaged, dried, prepared foods have too many carbohydrates in them, for diabetics.
But you'll have to play with the recipes to get control of your diabetes.
And if you don't want to grow your own garden, then you need access to a good farmers' market.
You can watch the grocery stores and find out when they reduce the prices of some of their produce and save some money, but that produce usually has to be worked and put up immediately, when you get home.
