Tigers, Lions, Leopards, all cat species can catch fleas, so at Big Cat Rescue we have to treat all of our 100+ residents with flea prevention just like your domestic cat at home every single month!

It's expensive and hard work to keep the cats flea free and happy at the sanctuary! Watch our volunteer vet Dr. Liz Wynn cover the 55 acres and treat all of our cats.

I checked. Sorry, it’s Frontline not Advantage, the Vet told me Frontline was preferred because it also kills ticks and lice. The Advantage only gets the fleas. It’s available as the neck spots if you want that stuff.

Amazon has it here:

Have heard from several vets that flea collars can cause tumors.

Thinking of the old plastic ones that had the chemical embedded in them. May be a newer version now that does not cause problems.

We just do not let our cats roam, or get off the patio when they come out with us.

” It’s hard to do a kitty burrito with a 22 pound Maine Coon. :)”

It’s not exactly easy with a 9-pound domestic shorthair either.

I know. They see the towel coming and run. Hannah knows it’s either a bath or hairball treatment. To smart for our own good.

I have a skittish tortie myself! She’s a feral rescue; she was living in our yard when we moved into our house the middle of 2009 and after two and a half years she finally decided Mrs. Tweezers and I would make good servants.

She is very affectionate to my wife and me, but still very distrustful of anyone else. And she HATES going anywhere in the car. I had to take her to the vet yesterday to get her rabies vaccination up to date and she cried the whole way there and back. I was holding her in the exam room trying to keep her calm and the poor thing was shedding clumps of fur.

I looked through a few of Big Cat Rescue’s videos after watching the one posted here. It seems a lot of cat behaviors are universal.

And at some points, the cougars in particular reminded me of a much larger version of my house kitties! On that note, thank God that the largest of my cats is only nine pounds.

My cat is indoor also and will venture out on my back deck but won't leave it.

That saves in not having to subject her to unnecessary innoculations which makes them temporarily ill..........

Rubbing diatomeacous earth into their fur gets rid of fleas. Have to keep doing it for a while. Kills the adult fleas and after a while, no more fleas. Harmless unless breathed in. ANd if they eat it, it kills intestinal worms. About 1 teaspoon once or twice a day kills the worms.
