An atheist, Buckner believes that no religious literature should be provided in government-owned lodging, and he presented that concern to management at the Amicalola Falls State Park.
Officials told Buckner they would remove the Bibles from all state park resorts while the state attorney general looked into the matter. Not long afterward, however, the AG issued a ruling saying the state was on firm legal ground because it hadnt paid for the books. On Wednesday, Gov. Nathan Deal ordered the Bibles returned.
Deal argued that if the state didnt pay for them, it cant be seen as endorsing them. He also noted that any religious group can donate literature. But his action sparked a string of comments on social media and captured the attention of local news television stations. It also prompted some to question why this hasnt been more of an issue in the US before.
Buckner is pondering his next move. One idea he is considering is to test the states offer to accept literature from other religions in state-owned lodging. He also said he would be willing to participate if an organization with similar beliefs decides to launch a lawsuit over the issue.
When you go into a state park cabin and the only piece of religious literature there is a Protestant Bible, that suggests the governments endorsed that particular perspective

atheists are an enigma, in that they have to acknowledge the existence of God in order to deny Him.
The penultimate Catch 22
what’s he right about? they’re donated books. govt spends nothing. nobody’s compelled to read it.
he’s not right about anything. first he tries to get them gone. they come back. insread of trying to gt them gone, now he wants more religious books sthere? if one book offends him, his solution is more than one book to offend him more?!?
he really isn’t offended about religious books being there, then. just one book in particular. and he doesn’t get to determine which religions should or shouldn’t be anywhere based on his own personal likes or dislikes. let him open up a hotel and decide what all donated religious books, if any, he wants in his hotel rooms.
Only once have I ever seen a Book of Mormon in a hotel room — I don’t think I’ve ever not seen a Bible.
Somehow the words “establishment of religion” seem to be grossly misunderstood.
is not a right recognized in the Constitution.
Another atheist jerkwad tyrant. Some hotels have Book of Mormon, Koran, Baghavad Gita, etc...but rather demand they be removed I just choose not to read them. Sometimes I feel sorry for sad sack agressive atheists who will kick themselves right out of eternity in heaven. Worst decision evahhhhhhhhhh.
Oh I’m not saying he’s prick, but when using logic failed, he went to the well and did what he thought he had to do: Show the hypocrisy of the situation. Do I want 50 stupid books of myths clogging up my hotel room? Of course not.
But if a government hotel at a national park “endorses” one religion and shuts out others, that’ll lose in court every time.
It’s like when creationists try to push their nonsense in public schools. Fine, “now teach all 4000 creation myths and give “equal time.” Those who push the christian myth never seem to like that idea and have a difficult time explaining why.
I meant “Im not saying he’s NOT a prick.’
“The atheists fear of God is proof of His existence. Most rational adults are not afraid of Santa Claus or Mickey Mouse, but atheists react to the very name of God as if they were being set on fire!”
Worth repeating.
Darwin’s Evolution is a theory/myth too. Where’s the scientific proof via missing link connections to humanoids?
Really? I see the book of mormon all the time. And not just in mormonville either.
yes but putting out a book that someone donates isn’t endorsement. they aren’t excluding any other religions doing it. fact is no other religions do it, it’s not the government’s fault they won’t donate books. asking them to donate would be asking to promote their religions. christians aren’t asked, they ask to donate.
all religions have the same opportunity to donate. the fact only one takes advantage is not the government endorsing them.
Nonsense.
They want to forcibly remove part of the first amendment.
Below you will find the first amendment as rewritten by atheists.
Congress shall make no many law (s) respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting and outlawing the free exercise thereof;especially them Christians or and abridging the freedom of speech, or and of the press; or and the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.
There is no other way to interpret their continual assault on any public religious free expression.
If they simply wanted the government allow all religions equally they wouldn't throw a hissy fit every time they see someone practicing their religion.
yeah i know you meant that :-)
I’ve always been mystified by those Gideon Bibles you find in motel rooms everywhere. The Gideons must have some serious mega-bucks when they can afford to print enough bibles to plant in practically every motel room in America. And they replace them when people take them home, as many people do. Who are the Gideons, anyway? (Excuse me if I sound dumb about this, but I have no clue.)
