Bloomberg's soda ban prohibits 2-liter bottles with your pizza
NY Post ^ | 2/24/13 | BRAD HAMILTON and SUSAN EDELMAN

Take a big gulp, New York: Hizzoner is about to give you a pop.

Nanny Bloomberg unleashes his ban on large sodas on March 12 — and there are some nasty surprises lurking for hardworking families.

Say goodbye to that 2-liter bottle of Coke with your pizza delivery, pitchers of soft drinks at your kid’s birthday party and some bottle-service mixers at your favorite nightclub.

-snip-

Typically, a pizzeria charges $3 for a 2-liter bottle of Coke. But under the ban, customers would have to buy six 12-ounce cans at a total cost of $7.50 to get an equivalent amount of soda.

Don’t worry about the cops....they won’t waste a minute going after you. Fancy lawyers? They’d have to find the vans and get cops to arrest people. That won’t happen. You will make sale after sale. Figure at least a million in profit after two weeks.

With millions of dollars in profits, both the cops and organized crime gangs are going to want a piece of it. People will kill over that amount.

Liberals want to take away your supersized soda - for your own good, of course.

This is where the slippery sloppy to tyranny leads. And no one in New York is upset at Bloomberg’s egomaniacal nuttiness!

Just raise the price of pizza by $3.00, and give the soda away FREE. I think the law says you can’t sell it but I don’t think it limits ‘delivering’ it if it’s a GIFT.

No good. That’s acknowledging that the rule is valid. One message of Atlas Shrugged is that the parasites will eventually box you in, no matter how clever you are, as long as you keep playing by their rules.

I think people can still buy 2L bottles at grocery stores.

You can still stock up on 2L soda bottles in the grocery stores and still buy pizza takeout.

And tell Bloomie he can take his supersize ban and shove it where the sun don’t shine.

Liberals know what is better for you than you. Just bend over and receive.

Step back ... Bloomberg’s so-called rationale for the ban was obesity. Ok to buy 3 loaded pizza’s but not ok to a 2 liter coke? LOL

"NYC is being used as a test market to see just how much the American people will take before they revolt. So far, it’s showing that the folks in NYC share 99.9% of their DNA with sheep."

It's not just NYC. When Bloomers pushed his anti-smoking rules, there were some FReepers cheering him, completely oblivious to the (smoke free!) slippery slope they were embarking upon...

The biggest difference between the Mafia and the government?

When you pay the Mafia protection money, they leave you alone!

Bloomie never had to split a pizza order with his family, did he? That 2 liter is supposed to serve 8 people.

What next, no more whole pizza, only sold by the slice and you can only buy 1 slice under penalty of arrest by the fat police?

Why, we should all just be like the Bloombergs, and hire caterers to serve us what is healthy

Blooming Idiot would prefer that the peasants just give up eating and drinking entirely.

It would make the city a much safer place.

That doesn’t help. You can already buy large bottles of soda, or multiple bottles of soda, for your own use at home.

The question is, could a restaurant sell you the ingredients, and have a machine in the store that they could use to mix their own soda. Except that is silly, because the law allows refills. So you could already get a 16-ounce cup, and they could charge ten cents a refill, and 1 buck for the cup (if the law doesn’t allow free refills).

The stores don’t mind so much, because it gives them an excuse not to sell a pitcher of soda, which makes less money for them than the individual cups.

Of course, every theme park I go to, I have a refillable cup that is more than 16 ounces, and get cheap refills. Fortunately, nobody is stupid enough to build a theme park in downtown new york city.

I wonder if Coney Island is covered under the law?

It is sad, but I bet there are a lot of poor people who simply don’t have the wherewithal to buy liters of soda and store them — less than a buck at the grocery store.

Instead, they spend $3 to have a pizza delivery guy bring it.
