Kyle Larson (32) is airborne after a multi-car crash at Daytona. (AP) DAYTONA BEACH, Fla A terrific NASCAR Nationwide Series race turned tragic in its last few hundred feet Saturday at Daytona International Speedway when a race car crashed violently into the catchfence and injured several fans.

Dear God!
Horrible.
This crash scared the whatever out of NASCAR.
We were at Talledaga when Bobby Allisons car
went airborn and almost got into the stands.
Believe that was the crash that brought about
the restrictor.
Whether its NASCAR or NHRA racing we always
get as high up in the stands we can.
Prayers for all the injured today
They need to address their complaints to God.
Anyone but me. (I haven't spoken to my wife in over three months...we're not fighting, I just don't like to interrupt)
“About like a bacon grease spatter.”
If I had a bacon grease spatter, it would HURT. You must have tough skin. Glad it wasn’t bad for you.
I smell culpable negligence
Probably why NASCAR has blocked the video from further viewing.
Well the NASCAR press conference was useless.
Via other media I hear that there are 2 critically injured and one of those is a child.
Full stories at USA Today sports site. He questioned the track rota and mocked the policy that says because Sprint is a title sponsor there can be no wifi available at tracks ( sheer madness)....among many subjects.
HER fault or the car's?
I predict that before the race tomorrow there will be new smaller restrictor plate issued to the cars.
My prayers for all injured parties, and their families.
I assume the medical crews were tending to the children and the critically injured and that’s why a couple of fellow spectators were attending to the guy with the tire next to him. Frustrating there weren’t enough medics to go around apparently — a bit of negligence there too. Kudos go out to the two guys who stepped up to help - esp. the dude who took charge, and used his shirt in his first aid efforts.
How frightening... Watched the Bodine truck crash that was also posted on this thread - those roll cages are marvels, although it would seem Bodine probably had some divine intervention in that crash as well.
The idea that attending sporting events must be risk free is ridiculous.
Soccer? Hockey? Baseball? You can be severely injured or killed attending those sports.
There was a La Mans race where 80 spectators were killed. They finished the race.
Here a tire went over the fence. Remember the big wreck at Indianapolis when many tires went over the fence? That led to the development of the “Indianapolis catch fence” which most NASCAR tracks use, but NOT Indianapolis!
Go figure.
If a woman can compete head to head with a man, why not let her? I like her and hope she has a great day tomorrow.
The newest report is that 28 people got hurt
The newest report is that 28 people got hurt
:)
Chauvinistic pig
You people are idiots, get a life. She was very competitive and her car had an electrical issue. I have raced at daytona and most of the other major road racing tracks in the country. You don’t have a clue what happened today makes you feel as a racer
