Conservative talker Ann Coulter appeared Thursday on Fox Business Networks Stossel to do battle with the shows Libertarian host and his 1,400+ Libertarian guests.
Their biggest point of contention? Social Conservatism versus the Libertarian Individuals Should Be Left Alone approach.
The evening began pleasantly enough, the two discussing whether the U.S. shouldve invaded Iraq following the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks. Coulter believes military action was justified because Saddam Hussein was definitely looking for uranium from Niger.
But then things became a little more heated when Stossel decided to shift gears and brought up legalizing drugs.
Libertarians and pot, Coulter laughed. This is why people think libertarians are pu**ies.
Now although Fox censored the word, Mediaites Andrew Kirrel was on the scene and can testify to Coulters language.
She continued:
Were living in a country that is 70-percent socialist, the government takes 60 percent of your money. They are taking care of your health care, of your pensions. Theyre telling you who you can hire, what the regulations will be. And you want to suck up to your little liberal friends and say, Oh, but we want to legalize pot.
You know, if youre a little more manly you would tell them what your position on employment discrimination is. How about that? But its always We want to legalize pot.
Stossel went all in Libertarian versus Social Conservatism: Why cant gays get married?
Well, they can, she answered. They have to marry a member of the opposite sex.
The 1,400+ Libertarian students, who were there as a part of Stossels annual taping at the International Students for Liberty Conference in Washington, D.C., became increasingly hostile, jeering and booing Coulter along the way.
This is another one where youre just sucking up to liberals when there are big fights, Coulter continued.
No, we believe the individual should be left alone, Stossel responded.
Marriage is the most important institution to civilize young people. I make divorce a lot more difficult, she said. Liberals want to destroy the family.
She explained that the left wants to destroy the family so that people will become totally dependent on government.
More jeers and boos.
How is it any of your business what I choose to put in my body if Im not affecting anyone else? one student asked during the Q&A session, prompting a standing ovation from the crowd.
First of all, for alleged individualists, youre very mob-like, Coulter said. Second of all, it is my business because we are living in a welfare state Right now, I have to pay for, it turns out, coming down the pike, your health care. I have to pay for your unemployment when you cant hold a job. I have to pay for your food, for your housing. Yeah, its my business!
Now to be clear, Coulter is no stranger to hostile environments and she and Stossel have long been on good terms. So it was not surprising to see the segment end amicably as the Libertarians students gave her a respectful send-off.
Still, thats not to say that Coulter versus Libertarianism wasnt something to see:

All the libertarians need to get off of my roads and build their own.
Libertarianism is a cult, with its prophet(Ayn Rand), their holy Scriptures(Ayn Rand’s books)etc.
Someone needs to tell Coulter she was irrelevant even before she supported Romney.
I’m usually for Stossel.. BUT Coulter SMOKED HIM..
She made him look like an idiot... she dragged him out of HIS CLOSET..
Not that Coulter is all that brilliant either....
Chris Christy!... pulllese... Myth Romney was bizaar..
With respect to this particular encounter, I firmly agree with Ann Coulter.
Of course, most libertarians will not admit it.
This nation is being torn to shreds by Obama and his communist friends, and these two decide to engage in kabuki theater.
I like Stossel, don’t always agree, but his positions are well thought out, and stable.
Coulter is an attention whore. It seems she will say or do whatever it takes to get in the public eye. I’m not a fan.
At least Coulter remains steadfast on stopping illegal immigration, and seems to one of the few Republican voices who understands that the illegal invasion and any concessions to it like amnesty, are existential issues far more important than gay marriage and sequestration.
Rand was an Objectivist and hated libertarians almost as much as she hated statists.

Love it!
Well, marijuana is no worse than alcohol. But alcohol to excess is pretty bad too.
The problem is other drugs. Once you legalize pot, the druggies will want a bigger high and the drug pushers will push marijuana laced with other stuff - plus the other stuff.
Marijuana use itself should be decriminalized as long as what you are using is pure marijuana and not anything else.
The amount of MONEY, COURT TIME, JAIL SPACE, COP SALARIES AND BENEFITS that expended in the flawed “War on Drugs” would help balance the budget.
Decriminalize marijuana use, take people who use the other stuff and dump them on a desert island somewhere with all the poppy seeds they want, and take your fingers out of my wallet and your cops out of my life.
Quite disappointed with Stossel, he’s usually on his game.
He could have brought up a myriad of topics (SS, Medicare, EPA, DoEduc., TSA, etc.) but chose to use ‘pot’ (when he should have brought up the WoD)?
More so he and crowd allowed the ‘Welfare State’ response. She should have been shouted down with a reaffirmation we are a Constitutional Republic; let alone the idea of a welfare state as a ‘valid form of gov’t’ that she and her GOP backed goonies have only expanded when they could.
This isn’t really Politics.
It is merely Entertainment.
People who really care about Politics wouldn’t even discuss these topics. These are small potatoes, when our entire government system is being butchered. Obama ignores Congress and governs by Executive Order. The Supreme Court sees Obamacare as both a tax and a non-tax simultaneously. The Senate won’t vote on a budget. The Democrats push Sequestration and then want the public to blame Republicans for it.
If you want to talk Politics, then talk Politics.
Watching good friends argue over homosexual marriage and marijuana is merely Entertainment. They should both be ashamed.
He’s a nice guy with good ideas and is generally on our side. The comments about his masculinity in this situation were not nice.
As for Coulter, she is HOT, but she needs about 20 pounds added to her frame to make her look better.
So funny the RINOs here at FR who besmirch Libertarians. nothing like having your principles challenged (things like liberty and freedom from government coercion) and then attacking those who actually do espouse individual liberties. Hilarious how close to home one can find hypocracy.
But hey - next election cycle go ahead and act like peevish libs and shout rude names at those who want a genuine return to a Constitutional republic - not Totalitarian Lite. Yeah thats worked out real well for us.
Nice post!
This was a pathetically weak response from Coulter.
Justifying her support for an intrusive big-government-growing monstrosity of a program but claiming its a necessary corollary to some other big government monstrosities is hardly a conservative position.
A little consistency for the rights of the individual over the intrusive power of the federal government would be nice, Ann.
If you're looking for intellectual consistency from Coulter I wish you luck.
She's a carnival barker who is in it to make money & sell books, not be a serious ideas person.
