EU watchdog reveals approval for GM foods fails to identify poisonous gene
54 of the 86 GM plants approved contain the dangerous gene
Gene found in food for farm animals producing meat, milk and eggs
Biotech supporters argue there is no evidence that GM foods are harmful
A virus gene that could be poisonous to humans has been missed when GM food crops have been assessed for safety.
GM crops such as corn and soya, which are being grown around the world for both human and farm animal consumption, include the gene.
A new study by the EUs official food watchdog, the European Food Safety Authority(EFSA), has revealed that the international approval process for GM crops failed to identify the gene.

Memo to Limeys
Stay in bed with covers over your head...
Calm, unbiased and completely neutral researchers say:
“We’re all gonna die!!! The sky is falling!!! GM...The Great and Horrible GM is gonna kill us all!!!”
Who came up with the god-awful GM sign ?
“Could”, “might”, “possibly”...
Not one ounce of verification of random phenotypical derivation on Gene VI, as they call it... Nor have they actually observed said changes producing toxicity...
But hey... Don’t let that get in the way of a good scare for the ignorant.
‘presence of toxin’ is not evidence of danger to humans.
Especially when they dont’ divulge its PPB or amounts, this is a scare story from the EU which has outlawed all bioengineered foods.
And says NO to all!
That is the gamble of your life.
That's impressive.
Of course, how do you PROVE that GM caused any particular illness?
I think this is the "Frankenstein" fear. That meddling with certain things in ways the common person doesn't understand can cause a lot of fear. Are there risks there? Certainly. There is risk with any human endeavor. Looks like to me that a lot of this fear is hyperbole though...
Monsanto is pushing to plant in Costa Rica ...country is size of Kentucky, with diverse ecosystems. The people don't want it.

.
Like a broken clock, sometimes the EU does something right.
GM is a solution to a problem that doesn’t exist, and is embraced by idiots that unfortunately do exist.
.
Owing its false statistics to the fact that collecting data on the vast number of GM caused illnesses is so rigidly avoided.
Rigidly avoided? Or simply non-existent?
Since food suppliers are forbidden from labeling GM foods, there will be no evidence. Duh . . . .
Let’s not forget that Barry appointed former Monsanto Vice Prez, Michael Taylor, to be his “Food Safety Czar”...
(kinda like appointing the pervert Kevin (”fisting”) Jennings; his “School Safety Czar”—
And don't get me started on Mercola. He's an internet charlatan who has become the hero of scientific illiterates, chemicalphobes, and Luddites everywhere.
I'm sure he's got a newsletter and lots of books to sell you that will tell you exactly what you want to hear. It's your money.
Good thing the people stopped Norman Borlaug from doing the same thing in Mexico many decades ago. Feeding people is so overrated.
