Seven-year-old Luka Apps spent his Christmas money on the LEGO Ninjago Ultra Sonic Raider set. A sound investment, if you ask us. But the thing about LEGOs -- those small pieces are easy to lose. They don't call 'em minifigures for nothing.
Against his father's recommendation, young Luka took his newly procured Jay ZX shopping. And then, wouldn't you know it, the figure went missing, never to be seen again.
Luka, not one to admit defeat, decided to write a letter to the good people at LEGO seeking a replacement.

How is that letter to Daddy coming? If you are so genuinely concerned about the boy’s moral education, why aren’t you contacting him?
Again, thank you for reminding the forum that you know better than LEGO how to run its company and know better than the boy’s father how to raise his son.
I’m sure both LEGO and the boy’s father are appreciative of your sentiments (that is, if you’ve had the chutzpah to write him or to inform your household that, effective immediately, you will never, as long as you live, buy another LEGO. )
Joe... the major difference is that you offered to pay for the part(as any good conservative would do) and the company had the choice to offer it for free. In the case of the Lego piece the young boy was coached by his dad to only ask for a “free” replacement. I merely made the point that the dad should have encouraged the kid to offer to pay for the lost piece rather than go straight for the “free” replacement piece email. This is a simple straight forward conservative response. I don’t know why so many freepers are squealing like liberals about me being a meanie LOL!!

How are you coming on writing that letter to Dad?
Why is a good conservative bothered when a company chooses to respond generously to a *request*?
Do you leave coal under the Christmas tree because you know your children haven’t *really* been good enough to *deserve* all their presents every year? Or do they receive gifts of toys, clothing, etc, even though they haven’t been 100% good?
Since you show grace and charity to your own children, despite their certain disobedience, why are you offended when a company shows grace and charity to this bow?
Actually I am more concerned with why you are so set on defending this father’s behavior? I am not posting on Yahoo with the liberal masses...I am posting on Free Republic. Actually the father’s response is exactly what I would expect from the liberal world. On the other hand your response on “FREE REPUBLIC” is a bit troubling.

Gosh could you squeal a little louder LOL!! Luka’s dad is not posting on free republic. He pretty much told us everything we need to know about him in this story. He has zero authority over his little son and when things go wrong he encouraged his child to shake down a company to replace his toy. Is there something I missed?

This is intellectual dishonesty. Even when reminded of the legal meaning of “shake down”, you persist in using the term. You compound your intellectual dishonesty with a libelous claim about the father’s parenting abilities, when you do not know the man nor have evidence to support it.
Do you train your children to be intellectually dishonest? Do you suppose intellectual dishonesty is a sign of great moral turpitude?
