Jillian Thomas father, Jamie Thomas, captured the Nov. 21 attack on video with images of his daughters face contorting with pain as the girl suffered three puncture wounds the size of dimes
An 8-year-old Atlanta girl and her family say they got the fright of their lives at SeaWorld Orlando last month when a dolphin lunged toward the girl and bit her hand.
Jillian Thomas father, Jamie Thomas, captured the Nov. 21 attack on video with images of his daughters face contorting with pain as the girl suffered three puncture wounds the size of dimes, reports the Orlando Sentinel.
The cuts are healing, the family was thankful the attack wasnt worse. Still, the family posted the video online as a warning to other parents.
The first thing I thought was I would have to jump in the water and save my daughter's life, Jamie Thomas told the Orlando Sentinel. I literally thought she was going to be pulled into the water.
The girl was attacked while she was participating in the feeding at the dolphin cove, the newspaper reported.
She put the paper fish container up in the air to where the dolphin could grab it, which SeaWorld warns against. The child's mother said her daughter made a mistake and "you can't hold a minor responsible for that."
SeaWorld officials said in a statement they had not seen the video but are taking the matter seriously.
"Nothing is more important to us than the health and safety of our guests, employees and animals," the statement said. "Educators and animal care staff were at the attraction when this happened and immediately connected with the family."
Love it! I remember my boys riding their Big Wheels in the 1970s. And I let them do a lot of crazy stuff that today’s mothers would be hyperventilating about.
I grew up in the 1950s, when even girls got to have adventures.
Today, the kids are sealed up in vacuum bags and delivered to the day care. The closest they ever get to physical activity is some character jogging in the junk they watch on TV.
It is disgusting to see what many children experience as life. No wonder they are so unhealthy and break bones easily.
I don’t know. I thought Miami fought pretty hard, they just made some untimely mistakes.
As a Pats fan, I HATE it when they play Miami. Miami ALWAYS plays them hard. Miami may roll over for some other teams, but they always seem to play their best against the Pats.
The Pats are something like 43-7 in December since Belichick has been coaching them, and I think four of those losses are against Miami. And, since 2001, the Pats are 57-15 against the AFC East, but seven of those losses have come against the Dolphins.
I would give them more credit.
Now, back to your regularly scheduled discussion of carnivorous human=dolphin interactions...:)
“Forget the herring, I’m going for the whole schmeer.”
Hahahaha
I knew my sister was going to be trouble when her son was about 5 years old and commented about all the animals that lost their homes to build houses for people.
I told him the truth and pointed out that the same had happened to build his house and my sister got mad because I told him the truth.
You are the blacksheep in that family, aren't you?
I see two parents looking for their 15 minutes of fame and possibly a lawsuit. My daughter was feeding those same dolphins just this past summer and the trainers tell you DO NOT pick up the trays! The trays mean food and the dolphins WILL go after them.
That is a fact!
The father needs his vagina sewn shut so he doesn’t mother anymore children.
It wasn’t really unusually dangerous. She got a couple of bite marks on her hand. It hurt, and she’ll probably get antibiotic for a week. Then it will be a cool story she can tell her friends.
She’ll probably fall off her bike sometime this year, and get hurt more. And she won’t remember riding her bike as fondly as she remembers getting to feed and pet a dolphin.
With all the things going on in the world.
Truly unbelievable.
Sea World put my picture up at the entrance with “DNA” ( Do Not Admit). We were there a couple years later so I put on a Geraldo Rivera fake mustache and got in. We were by the little touchie feelie tank and the youngest step-daughter grabbed a starfish and held it out of the water saying, “Oh it’s dry out here isn’t it Mr. Starfish?” So I stuck her head into the tank. My fake mustache fell off and the District Attorney’s office told me that if they ever saw me again, they’d throw me in the pokey for thirty days. Every time the youngest step-daughter comes over, I have her two daughters watch SpongeBob. When Patrick the starfish comes on, we all yell “Mommy took a bath with the starfish!”
lol
Yup, that trick works for the Land Shark every time.... and no one has seen Loraine Newman since......
“you can’t hold a minor responsible for that.”
What an odd thing to say...it certainly isn’t illegal to get bit on the hand by a dolphin.
So is the mother saying that it is the fault of someone else?
Interact with animals at your own peril.
And the claim that the puncture wounds were the “size of a dime” is an outright lie. As sue happy daddy insists on documenting the trauma for posterity (and court no doubt) you can see the small wounds.
And for irony the following can’t be beat...
“as the girl suffered three puncture wounds the size of dimes, reports the Orlando Sentinel.”
The words Orlando Sentinel link to the original OS story. Which says, as the byline...
“Jillian Thomas, 8, suffered four puncture wounds after dolphin bites her hand at SeaWorld Orlando.”
Just laugh out loud at the media hucksters.
Tastes like chicken.
I would think this happens more then we know. The dolphin got a little over anxious and grabbed her hand along with the plate. If the dolphin really attacked her it would have pulled her in by her head and left her with a lot more then a few teeth marks on her hand. The dolphin should attack the reporter for blatantly lying about its behavior.
I agree. The biting looks like it was accidental.
I could add to your list, but all I think of is...good times...good times. :-)
