A bus driver told a 12 year-old student that he should have been aborted because his family had a Romney-Ryan sign in their yard.
The child attends a Catholic school in New Berlin. He rides a Durham school bus. The company also provides service to the New Berlin public school district.
Apparently, the Romney-Ryan yard sign bugs the bus driver and shes been harassing the boy, making rude comments to him related to politics.
When the driver engaged the 12-year-old boy in a political conservation, he responded by saying that Obama is pro-abortion.
The bus driver allegedly said to the child, Maybe your mom should have chosen abortion for you.
Understandably, this really upset the boy. Other kids on the bus verified the boys account and are providing written statements.
The mom made her sons school aware of the situation. She also went to Durham School Service in New Berlin and spoke to Michael Bennett, the manager.

Why do we we hear so many cases about harassment of kids by the left, but never by the right?
This is the second one in as many weeks -- the other one being the girl that was harassed by her geometry teacher for wearing a Romney/Ryan T-shirt. The teacher apologized, BTW -- before the entire school.
Is it because the ones perpetrated by the right aren't reported? Or because it just isn't reported here on FR?
Or is it because they simply don't happen?
I'm not asking a rhetorical question. I'm truly curious -- have you ever heard of someone on the right harassing a kid over their political views?
they initially said she would still drive, just for a different, public school they have contracts with. local talk show host Mark Belling, a regular Rush fill-in, was the guy that broke the story and put pressure on by getting the story out and allowing other parents and such to get involved. at first thecompany stonewalled
I’m gonna play Devil’s Advocate here....remember we all recently saw just how nasty a bunch of kids on a school bus can be in the case of of that elderly woman who was working as a bus monitor. This is a case of a 78 year old woman who is still working. I salute her for that (though it does make me a little nervous that she’s driving a school bus at that age.)
If she was really harassing this kid then I’m glad she got fired. But I’d like to know a little more about just how much “crap” she has put up with from these kids on a daily basis. Maybe she was just giving back as good as she got.
Let’s not pretend kids are necessarily a bunch of little angels.
Whatever happened to editors.
Oh, so funny... Was looking for more info.
Src > There’s a job opening for a bus driver for Durham svcs in New Berlin, WI at www.indeed.com (etc).
The description says only one in five applicants is qualified... Oh noes!
Kids can be cruel. But, she is an adult.
There's no excuse for an adult, especially in that position, to say something like that to a child, under any circumstances.
If she had said something like that to my child in my presence, I would have told her that she had better hope her last paycheck was a large one.
If she had said something like that in my wife's presence, she would have had lost her dentures on the floor of the bus.
Well, it did regard conservative values...
:: Maybe your mom should have chosen abortion for you. ::
That -right there- is a DEATH THREAT. The parent of each child on that bus should be filing a restraining order on the driver.
after the report on Marks show.
5 day suspension, gather the evidence then publically fire her @$$
The bus driver should have been immediately terminated, but in today's world, it will probably promoted.
You make a good point, but if my parents had caught a 12 year old me mouthing off to any adult under any circumstances I wouldn’t have sat down for a month. (And for the record, I’m pretty thankful that they never had a clue as to half the stuff that went on on my school bus.)(Or at least, I don’t think they had a clue, as I get older and rethink it, I realize they knew a lot more than I thought they did at the time.)
So the driver Maybe gets fired your wife gets arrested for battery, your child learns that violence is the best first course of action and you possibly loose your house and life savings in a law suit.
Yeah I think we can call that plan "B". These parents handled it correctly.
I really love the way that the anonymous Internet invites people to posture.
Whoa. This lady told the kid she wished he was dead (in so many words). She should be fired. It sounds to me like the kid was having a debate with her. He may be a pain in the butt, but a 12 year old kids willing to discuss politics (and abortion politics at that) are rarely troublemakers.
Also, if the kid was a troublemaker to the level of being wished dead, there should be plenty of documentation of that behavior and you can be sure she would've brought it up in her defense.
Who writes this stuff???
FMCDH(BITS)
Do you seriously think that a jury would convict my wife of assault or award damages to the driver under those circumstances?
Maybe in your part of the country, but not in mine.
My thought exactly! I can’t think of any story about a conservative adult picking on a kid. And I can’t believe the media would bury such a gem.
I can only assume such events are few and far between.
I guess if you don’t have the facts to debate an informed adult you’re reduced to picking on kids.
