I’m gonna play Devil’s Advocate here....remember we all recently saw just how nasty a bunch of kids on a school bus can be in the case of of that elderly woman who was working as a bus monitor. This is a case of a 78 year old woman who is still working. I salute her for that (though it does make me a little nervous that she’s driving a school bus at that age.)
If she was really harassing this kid then I’m glad she got fired. But I’d like to know a little more about just how much “crap” she has put up with from these kids on a daily basis. Maybe she was just giving back as good as she got.
Let’s not pretend kids are necessarily a bunch of little angels.
Kids can be cruel. But, she is an adult.
There's no excuse for an adult, especially in that position, to say something like that to a child, under any circumstances.
If she had said something like that to my child in my presence, I would have told her that she had better hope her last paycheck was a large one.
If she had said something like that in my wife's presence, she would have had lost her dentures on the floor of the bus.
Whoa. This lady told the kid she wished he was dead (in so many words). She should be fired. It sounds to me like the kid was having a debate with her. He may be a pain in the butt, but a 12 year old kids willing to discuss politics (and abortion politics at that) are rarely troublemakers.
Also, if the kid was a troublemaker to the level of being wished dead, there should be plenty of documentation of that behavior and you can be sure she would've brought it up in her defense.
Interesting point. Someone should ask her. We should not assume that she has had to put up with any “crap” and did this out of some sense of getting back at this kid (not to suggest you are making that assumption). However, IF there are kids who gave this driver “crap,” the bus driver should have taken care of it long before now.

In the article it references that this particular student was using the bussing service to get to the private Catholic school. I would wager that this 12 year old is much better behaved than the typical brats.
