[history]
A homeless man was sentenced today to 60 days in jail for choking a pelican to death because he was hungry.
The District Attorney's Office said Sergio Alvarez, 30, caught the bird near the Malibu pier on Aug. 22.
About 5:50 p.m. that day, a bystander flagged down a sheriff's deputy and said a man was choking a pelican.

If this hungry transient had been caught in Malibu choking his chicken instead, the liberal locals would have left him alone ...
He now has three hots and a cot for the next 60 days.
Such is life under Obamanomics ... go figure.

Pelican ... I’ll bet it tastes like Malibu chicken.

I’d rather have fed this turd to the pelican than vice versa. Probably high at the time. I hate the homeless here in L.A., absolutely hate them. I stood at the bus stop just the other day and watched some bum shell his boiled eggs and throw the shells into the street. Trash can was just a couple feet away, but no, he’d rather throw his trash in the street. At that moment, I’d have cheerfully fed him to Uday Hussein’s dogs. Alive.

Understood.
I grew up in the area (Agoura Hills) and my favorite hangout was Zuma Beach back in the day.
I keep to myself in Temecula now ... and commute to San Diego. I try to stay away from LA as much as possible.

This around the 3rd time an article about this guy was posted
Sounds like 3 hots and a cot is what he was looking for. Funny how the Californication gummint gives the dirt bags what they want.

The Judge was going to give the homeless man probation, and asked the man what pelican tastes like.
The homeless man said it tastes somewhere between a bald eagle and a whooping crane.
60 Days.

"caught it and killed it"
"flapped its wings in distress until its body went limp and died"
Sounds more like he tortured the poor thing to death. Note to homeless: if for some reason you absolutely must kill a pelican, show some humanity and just brain it and snap its damned neck
...or maybe he wasn't hungry and he was just enjoying himself.

if this was a wild pelican and not privately owned, I would vote to acquit

Years ago when going through school I worked night desk clerk at a motel near Tampa. Guy came in to the restaurant there and ordered the best dinner we had then came to the desk and told me he had no money and to call the cops.
I told him to get the hell out of there.
It was february and cold.
He thanked me and promptly walked across the street, picked up a cinder block and threw it through a shell gas station window,.
He wanted to get in from the cold and get a few meals.

Just think how long and how many people Jesus could have fed if he was splitting loaves and pelicans instead of fish.

I’d heard L.A. was why they invented Neutron bombs.
Do away with the crazies and leave Zuma alone.
What a great beach Zuma is.
