“’Their breasts – the symbol of womanhood, motherhood – flattened into stubs as they were seen as mere hindrances to speed.”

It’s called a sports bra? Maybe this guy needs to grow a pair of breasts and try to run a foot race with them flying all over the place?

The rest of this piece is just the typical Muslim trash we should expect from that pit culture.

I agree with you — and I’m a woman.

To perform at an Olympic level, there are many sports where the necessary training will get an athlete down to 5% bodyfat.

This has nothing to do with women trying to look masculine - it's about trying to beat every other woman you're competing against by excelling them in conditioning.

Are you saying that the Olympics should be men-only?

I’m perplexed by the idea of femininity anymore. The militant feminists worked for decades to get to this point. Now we’ve got people saying, “Maybe we went too far?” We’ve got media elites looking for rail-thin women to model and are being told that sexpots like Marilyn Monroe were “obese” by “today’s standards.”

Sorry, I’ll take Marilyn over any French runway model. I’d take Jessica Ennis, but I’d likely feel inferior to her physically since I’m a lumbering 300 lb. man and not a Navy-SEAL-esque cover model. That doesn’t mean I don’t find her feminine. She’s just ripped.

The thing is, Istanbul is the odds on favorite to get the 2020 Games.

Just my two cents but these women are ATHLETES. They aren’t runway or swimsuit models. They train, eat, train some more for their chosen sport. A female weight lifter will look obviously different than a female gymnast. The Turk, IMHO, needs to understand that they aren’t competing for his approval or for the Miss America title. They are competing as athletes. For what its worth, I would just LOVE to see a picture of Turk... can I judge his male physique as a female. Can I judge yours, AnalogReigns?!! Sheesh....

When body fat percentage gets down in the single digits it doesn’t leave much to be collected in fatty deposits. Sad but true. It’s why the most attractive female athletes tend to be in the more “mellow” sports that let you carry a few extra pounds like golf.

Seriously, that lady on the left sure looks like a dude...

Brad Pitt looked like that in 'Thelma and Louise'. "Loose-X" chromosome issues?

My wife said something very similar last night.

The sacrifices these women athletes make in their quest for a gold medal are amazing on one level and on a different one it’s very sad. Why? When they finally set aside their athletic career they really won’t be done with the training to give it ups and set it aside brings a large risk of those muscles turning to flab in a short time. Once on the path they are on they need to continue for the rest of their lives.

Personally, I never really “got” the Olympics at all — for a number of reasons. The author hits on some good points here, especially when you look at it in the context of what the Olympics have become: an idiotic entertainment extravaganza that is little more than an enormous business.

A year or two back there was some talk about pole dancing being made an Olympic sport.

I suspect that would change the entire dynamic of this discussion...

Far worse, the emasculation of men in the United States has destroyed American male's ability to compete with other nations. Of the 34 medals won by the U.S., 23 of them were won by women. This is a far worrisome statistic that does not bode well for males in the U.S.

One look at television, notably the commercials, and the push is on to empower girls (girl power!) and women at the expense of boys and men. Males are marginalized, mocked, belittled, and even slapped by women and no one seems to care nor change this pattern.

Well, at least the gymnasts don't look like men.

They look like little kids.
