YEEEHAAAWW, 20/20

Just got back from my cataract surgery follow up, my right eye is now 20/20. Before surgery I was legally blind in that eye.

On the 19th of this month I go in for the left eye.

If you have cataracts get them fixed! I had no idea just how near blind I was and I missed way too much!

Nonsense. A gallon of pomegranate juice and 4 lbs of ascorbic acid a day would have prevented that cataract from forming

I use Advair and Spiriva for my lung condition. Both can cause or aggravate cataracts and glaucoma. I have no signs of glaucoma so I’m keeping my fingers crossed.

My late husband had childhood cataracts at age 13. This was in the late 40’s. He had the benefit of the latest technology from the Mayo Clinic. This was the procedure, they slit the cataract and then let it peel up for a couple of days, then removed it. His head was sandbagged for two weeks. Then the other eye was done a few weeks later.

What was a two week procedure for him, was a few minutes for me.

My husband actually was able to join the Navy.

Interesting.

I had always assumed it was an old persons disease.

Guess not.

I don't know if your doctor instructed you to keep your head above your waist, and not to lift anything heavy at all. I’ve had my implants for about 6 years and my doctor was emphatic about those two restrictions. I’.ve had no problems,

My doctor told me that they could tell the progression of cataracts in the old time artist, because as the eyes became more clouded, the colors became more muted. I thought that was interesting.

The actual procedure only takes a few minutes. Recovery for each eye is about 2 weeks. Be sure and read up on the restrictions. Some Doctors don’t tell you about keeping your head above your waist or not to lift moderate to heavy objects for that 2 weeks.

Nope! There are actually babies born with cataracts. I know way more about the disease than most doctors. My husband suffered from the long lasting effects for most of his life. He was blind for the last 15 years of his life from glaucoma.

“All of a sudden I realized that I was seeing individual hairs when I looked at her, instead of just patches of color.”

It occurs to me on reading that, that it’s the level of detail in your photos that makes them so awesome, and you haven’t been able to see it yourself!

Well, welcome to your world — you’re in for a treat! :-)

I could actually see more detail through the camera than with my glasses, the optics are much better.

The pressure from bending or lifting could cause the implants to move......... I had rather be safe than sorry. My husband was blind for the last 15 years of his life, and I did what the expert said. One of had to see.

That's GREAT news, Swampsniper, I'm very very happy for you.

I'm 60 and have to carry three pairs of glasses now -- one of which is "progressive" for driving and general walking around, and another pair for computer work, and the third for close reading.

So far, the cataracts aren't increasing too fast, but they will catch up with me eventually.

You have given me hope!! Thank you and God Bless You, Sir.

And keep those great photos coming!
