FReepers and Americans repent! (vanity)
25 May 2012 | me

A few points: 1. Contraception is a leftist ploy to break down the family, faith in God, and all of society. 2. Freepers and Americans who use it need to repent to God. 3. The states need to ban it. 4. There is no right to contraception. 5. Contraception leads to abortion. 6. Stop sexual immorality.

You are full of twisted liberal logic. You care about theory and intentions and the “heart” of those who “responsibly” contracept. What matters is RESULTS! Look at some statistics before you post.

Contraception and abortion go hand in hand. Contraception leads to abortion because of the breakdown in morality and sexual immorality that it causes.

4. There is no right to contraception.

I believe that contraception does lead to sexual immorality (in non-married couples), but I even more strongly believe that the government has NO AUTHORITY to say whether contraception is "permitted" or not. Saying that there is no right to contraception implies that our rights are something to be doled out and recognized by the government, rather than inalienable rights held by the people which the government is not permitted to violate. Any power not explicitly granted to the government is FORBIDDEN to the government. If we want people to stop using contraception, then we'll need a societal return to God, so that moral and social pressure keep people from this behavior, rather than an all-powerful nanny state.

That said, I'm cool with local/state governments banning abortion and all abortifacients because abortion is murder and murder is one of those crimes which is covered in the social compact. In other words, we as a society have agreed that murder is something we want the government to discourage and prosecute, just like robbery and rape. Any "contraception" that actually eliminates pregnancy by killing a fertilized egg or preventing it from implanting is, in fact, murdering an unborn child. However, I would never support the government having the power to outlaw a contraceptive such as a condom, not because I think using condoms is cool, but because I abhor the government having that much power.

—And for those who reject God’s Church —

And who is “God’s Chruch?

I see it here.

Matthew 12: 47-50, specifically 50

Then one said unto him, Behold, thy mother and thy brethren stand without, desiring to speak with thee. But he answered and said unto him that told him, Who is my mother? and who are my brethren? And he stretched forth his hand toward his disciples, and said, Behold my mother and my brethren!

For whosoever shall do the will of my Father which is in heaven, the same is my brother, and sister, and mother.

By what authority do you know what books are in the bible? How do you know that the Gospel according to Barnabas, Peter, etc. are not inspired New testament Books. Where in your bible does it say what books should be in the bible?

Why don’t you trust in the authority that gave you the NT - the Catholic Church?

Genesis 38:9,10 coupled with many other verses and the authority of God’s Church.

‘I disagree with you. I don’t think all contraception is wrong.’

Is pulling out early contraception? We shouldn’t be doing that (we = husband and wife) ? Is that considered sinful?

How about just abstinence? That occurs naturally in most marriages over time. Is that a sin also?

That is why I want states to ban it - until there is a constitutional amendment banning it.

I’m reminded of the sadducees “if 7 women married a man, who’s husband is she in the resurrection”, trying to pick holes in the word of God.

To which Jesus told them “Ye do err, not knowing the scriptures, nor the power of God.”

The Bible doesn’t cover modern technology of course. It doesn’t say anything about euthanasia either but we know that euthanasia is an abomination against God.

That’s why someone who has actually read the Bible through with the Spirit of God leading them actually gets to know the personality of Jesus through it. Just like if you sat down and talked with an old wise guy for a few weeks, you might not hear his opinion on every thing, but you would still know his opinion on those things, because you know the man.

And for those who reject God’s Church I appeal to you based on reason and natural law

I beg to differ, you are most definitely not appealing to reason.

Do you not know that contraception is Scriptual? It serves a Godly purpose.

1 Corinthians 7:3-6 : From the apostle Paul to the Corinthians

The husband should fulfill his marital duty to his wife, and likewise the wife to her husband. The wife’s body does not belong to her alone but also to her husband. In the same way, the husband’s body does not belong to him alone but also to his wife. Do not deprive each other except by mutual consent and for a time, so that you may devote yourselves to prayer. Then come together again so that Satan will not tempt you because of your lack of self-control. I say this as a CONCESSION, not as a command.

This depriving by mutual consent? Contraception.

Genesis 38:9,10 is a specific case about a specific man.

The rest of your post is the same stuff I’ve argued for decades. Prayer and a relationship with Jesus Himself trumps the “angels dancing on the head of a pin” arguments you are making.

I say this in the spirit of love. Who is Christs? Not members of a specific church.

John 14:15
If ye love me, keep my commandments.

John 14:21
He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him.

John 15:10
If ye keep my commandments, ye shall abide in my love; even as I have kept my Father’s commandments, and abide in his love.

John 15:12
This is my commandment, That ye love one another, as I have loved you.

Love is a “feeling”.
Love is an attitude.
Love is a commitment.
Love is a decision.
Love is an action.

I have chosen to LOVE YOU, a fallen sinner like myself, who imperfectly attempts, as do I, to show God’s love to his fellow man.

“Add in another vote for nuts.”

Ridicule is the first step in the coming war against those who speak the truth about Contraception. Next comes isolation and persecution.

"A few points:..."

Here's a few more.

" 1. Contraception is a leftist ploy to break down the family, faith in God, and all of society."

Yeah, and flouridation was a communist plot. Remember that one?

" 2. Freepers and Americans who use it need to repent to God. 3. The states need to ban it."

You are entitled to believe anything you like. If you think it's a sin, don't do it. But in a free society you are not entitled to impose your religious beliefs as law. This is not a theocracy. We do not accept the premise of Sharia. America is a great country, love it or leave it.

" 4. There is no right to contraception."

There most certainly is the right to make this choice for yourself.

" 5. Contraception leads to abortion. 6. Stop sexual immorality."

If you want to stop what you believe is immorality you do it by one, not engaging in it, and two, persuading others to agree with you. You don't get to outlaw it.

—I’m reminded of the sadducees “if 7 women married a man, who’s husband is she in the resurrection”, trying to pick holes in the word of God.—

Exactly. What I find interesting is that there are all sorts of contraception that were around then. One is abstinance. Then there is rhythm.

Sometimes people really try to read something into the bible that is just not there. The Genesis 38: 9,10 argument was one I was introduced to back in 1981. At the time I was a new Christian and thought, “Gee, yeah, that’s pretty clear.” Then I realized that it was very clear to the people in the story, but it was not about all mankind. And as I got older and looked at the “adult” characteristics of human sex and its purpose, and the words of Jesus concerning it, I realized that this preoccupation with controlling sex within the marriage bed is mostly a contrivance of new, single, Christians.

Sex is like food, a thing that is required for life to continue and also to be greatly enjoyed. Heck, my wife and I love Song of Songs. It’s literally a form of what we now call “erotica”. :-)
