Through the Royal Astronomical Society in London the Danish scientist Henrik Svensmark released new scientific evidence in the last week that has not yet hit the mass media. This new examination could revolutionize the way that we view our worlds climate and even the history of life on Earth. Professor Svensmark examined the history of how supernovas close to our solar system occurred over the last 500 million years. He compared this supernova history to our well known history of the number of different species on Earth over that same time period and found a remarkable correlation.

Only thing I ever pulled out of them that looked pretty much hard core reality was when you get a flip you can expect the start of the next glaciation pretty soon ~ and that would be in line with cosmic ray thesis as well.
So, more cosmic rays getting through charges up atoms that make sulphuric acid molecules that make more clouds that reflect more Sunlight and it gets colder.
If we double or triple the effect with a pole change on Earth, bet that's a humdinger of a coldwave ~ BTW, we are about 5,000 years overdue for the next glacial advance anyway.
The current trend is also up ~ and we are already in a 2.5 to 3.0 million year long active Ice Age.
Time to start firing up the bacteria to terraform Venus!

Thanks Windflier! I removed the apostrophes :).
The theory has been around for some time now, but that’s ok. Lots of folks get a lot of things through these posts that they normally would not obtain.

That NY Times article does not in any way talk about the effects of cosmic rays on clouds. Only on the belief by some scientists that clouds would act as a reverse feedback mechanism slowing any increase in temperature.
As long as we agree that a 'flip' doesn't happen quickly. It takes time. A long time. And that is when Earth may be unprotected.
Once it has 'flipped' 180 degrees, then things will be back to normal.
I will, however, have been dead for 10,000 years.
Actually, it was 7 minutes. It's just that GOD thought nobody would believe it.
Yes, but only to those with a proper education.
I think some folks believe these magnetic field changes happen like 3-phase electric motors but they don't.
Apostrophe misuse and abuse has become something of an epidemic. It was once rare, and mostly something youngsters were guilty of, but I’ve watched the frequency of misuse increase quite a bit over the last several years, and now see these errors committed by even educated people. It’s still a turn off for me, no matter who does it.
