April 15, 2012, marks the 100th anniversary of the sinking of the Titanic, the ship touted as unsinkable, during her maiden voyage from Southampton, England, en route to New York. Much research has been done on the passengers, crew, and the ship itself over the years. But little has been reported about one group of passengers -- the dogs of the Titanic. Many think of their pets as part of the family, and it's evident that that sentiment was as true 100 years ago as it is today.
Widener University, named for a prominent Philadelphia family that had three members on board, will honor the memory of that fateful voyage with an exhibit, a part of which will feature the dogs on board.

We came to Earth. And so did they. God gives us the help-mates that we need when we need them. We may not recognize them as Angels, but that is what they are. Who/what else could love us so unconditionally?
There is, or was, a show in Branson, MO based on the Titanic from the pets point of view. It was held in a theater that was built to look sort of like the Titanic. I never saw the show though.
Angels in dusty robes. ;^)
Angels in FURRY robes! ;o]
WOW! neat story. I heard that when a stray cat enters a new home, it is a sign of good luck.
It’s interesting that people took notice of the cat. It must have been very busy on that gangplank. That cat was truly focused.
I’m sure if the dogs weren’t on leashes, they would have followed that cat.
Thanks for the ping!
I stand corrected. ;^)
I stand corrected. ;^)
*sheesh*
If you have four furry legs, you can never be corrected! LOL!
“When she was told the dog was too large, she refused to leave without him and got out of the lifeboat. Several days later, the body of a woman clutching a large dog was spotted by crew of the recovery ship, Mackay-Bennet, and dinghies were dispatched. Eyewitness accounts by crew and ship’s log confirm the sighting and recovery, and the body recovered is assumed to be Miss Isham.”
I can easily see my own fate, there.
It was absolutely fascinating, nay...... riveting....and at one point, poignant.
He and his long time staff have devoted much of their adult life to the ongoing biography of the doomed line, although Cameron did state at the end that he personally will move on to other and different challenges....and that his famous Titanic movie plus the documentary will be his signature works to remember.

I respectfully disagree.
Forgot all great moments when Cameron in closing said Titanic is like the challenge of Global Warming.
Only a few dogs are pictured. And 1 is obviously Bulldog (not any terrier in it), the other on blow-up is the Great Dane, and possibly the 1 nearest railing is a terrier, like a Jack or Fox type. But it could also be a Beagle or that type of small hound.
You mean the challenge of proving it complete total BS to all the indoctrinated?
Only if that were true!
I was only surprised he did not say “At least the neighborhood watch was busy hunting, and thankfully unable to reach the life-boats!”
Am I the only one that got sick of Titanic articles 15 years ago?
My grandfather’s uncle went down on it.

can’t think about this, it breaks my heart.
Poor doggies.
